Ferry pet rules in 2026
Blue Star, ANEK Lines, and Hellenic Seaways accept pets year-round. Dogs over 10kg travel on outside decks with a leash and muzzle. Smaller dogs and cats travel in carriers. Some ferries have pet cabins; book by phone, not online. Bring a recent vaccination booklet and the EU pet passport for international ferries.
Island vet networks
Crete has a full vet network in Heraklion and Chania. Rhodes and Corfu each have a small network. Mykonos, Santorini, Paros, and Naxos run on one main vet plus an emergency rotation. Petme sitters know which clinics are open through the summer.
The sitter swap model
