Triglav National Park with a dog
Park rules, the routes that work, the climb that doesn't.
Triglav National Park covers most of the Julian Alps. Dogs are welcome but the rules are strict: lead at all times, no off-lead, and most via-ferrata summit routes are unsafe for dogs anyway. Below, the realistic dog-friendly routes around Bled, Bohinj, Mojstrana, and the Soča valley.

Dog-friendly trails around Triglav
Bled lake circuit
6 km flat loop around Lake Bled. Mostly paved, fully on-lead, ice cream stops on the south shore.
Bohinj lake loop
12 km mixed terrain, alternating sun and shade. Best in late spring and autumn. Some unofficial swim spots on the southern shore.
Soča Trail
Sections of the long Soča Trail from Bovec downstream are flat, shaded, and run alongside the river. Excellent on hot days.
Velika Planina
Strictly outside the national park, but the highland meadow plateau above Kamnik is one of the most dog-friendly Alpine destinations in Slovenia.
When the climb is too much
Leave the dog with a verified sitter
If you are climbing Triglav or doing a multi-day hut trip, the safest plan is a verified Petme sitter in Kranj, Jesenice, or one of the nearby valley towns. The dog stays in a real home with photo updates, you climb without worrying.
