Petme Protection Plan: Real accidents deserve real backup

The Petme Protection Plan exists for the moments that matter most - helping pet parents through serious emergencies with real human support when they need it most.

Because peace of mind matters long before anything goes wrong

You picked your sitter carefully. You wrote the care instructions. You did everything right. Sometimes things still go wrong - a dog fight, a fall, something swallowed that should not have been.

Veterinary Costs

In qualifying cases, the Petme Protection Plan may contribute up to €20,000 (approx. $20,000 USD) toward veterinary expenses for serious injuries to your pet caused by a sitter's actions during a confirmed booking - from emergency surgery to acute trauma treatment.

Not Covered

Routine care, pre-existing conditions, third-party injuries, property damage, or anything outside a confirmed booking.

How it Works

Talk to your sitter first

Message them through the app. Most situations can be resolved directly. Keep the conversation - you'll need it.

Check your own insurance

If you have pet insurance, submit there first. We're here for what other coverage doesn't reach.

Tell us within 48 hours

Email support@petme.social the moment something happens. Early notice matters.

Send us the full picture

Vet report, photos taken within 24 hours of the incident, booking confirmation, and any insurance outcome. Submit everything within 14 days.

We take it from there

A real person reviews every request individually. We respond within 30 days - and in cases where we can contribute, we aim to pay within 14 business days. In qualifying cases, we may contribute up to €20,000 (approx. $20,000 USD) toward eligible veterinary costs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as a serious injury?
Injuries that need emergency treatment, surgery, or hospitalisation - acute situations that could not have been anticipated before the booking. Not routine vet visits, not ongoing health conditions, not minor incidents.
What falls outside scope?
Pre-existing conditions, routine or preventive care, injuries that happen outside the booking period, off-platform bookings, third-party injuries, and property damage.
How do I make a request?
Email us at support@petme.social within forty-eight (48) hours of the incident - the sooner the better. We'll confirm what documentation you need to submit from there.
Is the Protection Plan insurance?
No. The Petme Protection Fund is a discretionary fund, not an insurance policy, and no booking comes with a guaranteed payout. We look at each situation individually and decide whether and how much we can contribute. We'd rather be straight with you about that than overpromise - which is also why we'd encourage you to hold your own pet insurance alongside this. The fund is there for when everything else falls short. See full terms here.
What's the maximum Petme might contribute?
Up to €20,000 toward veterinary costs in cases where we can help.
