Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about finding a trusted pet sitter in Malta.

How do I find a trusted dog sitter in Malta?
Browse verified sitters by town on Petme, read their reviews from other Maltese owners, and book a free meet-and-greet before the first stay. Every sitter passes an identity check, and the Petme Protection Plan can contribute up to €20,000 toward eligible vet costs.
How much does a pet sitter cost in Malta?
Drop-in visits run about €8 to €14, dog walks €10 to €18, doggy daycare €15 to €30 a day, boarding €18 to €35 a night and house sitting €25 to €50 a night. Sitters set their own rates, and Sliema, St Julian's and Ta' Xbiex sit at the top of each band.
Is there a fee for pet owners on Petme?
No. Owners pay 0% on Petme, so the rate on a sitter's profile is the price at checkout, with no service or booking fee added. Every completed booking also earns cashback into your Petme wallet for the next one.
Can I book pet boarding instead of a pet hotel in Malta?
Yes. Petme boarding means your pet stays in a verified sitter's home rather than a kennel, usually with one or two other pets at most. It runs about €18 to €35 a night, and the sitter sends photo updates during the stay.
Is house sitting available in Malta?
Yes. A house sitter stays overnight in your home so pets keep their routine, which many owners book for the August festa fireworks and summer travel. Expect about €25 to €50 a night, depending on the number of pets and any medication.
Which towns in Malta and Gozo have Petme sitters?
Petme covers 16 towns: Valletta, Sliema, St Julian's, Gżira, Msida, Ta' Xbiex, Pembroke, Swieqi, San Ġwann, Birkirkara, Naxxar, Mosta, Mellieħa, St Paul's Bay, Marsaskala and Victoria in Gozo. Each town has its own page with local sitters.
