Hi, I’m Mara! I’ve spent over a decade working with animals — from volunteering and kennel work to professional pet sitting and adoption counseling. I’ve worked at multiple shelters and humane societies, including the San Diego Humane Society, where I helped match hundreds of dogs, cats, and small animals with their forever homes. While completing my graduate degree, I worked for a local San Diego dog-walking company, and before that, I was a kennel attendant, front-desk receptionist, and long-time volunteer at animal shelters throughout high school and college. Over the years, I’ve cared for pets of every kind — dogs, cats, and small animals — including seniors, special-needs pets, and those with anxiety or medical needs. At home, I have a rescue dog named Indie who’s taught me a lot about patience, structure, and understanding animal behavior (especially separation anxiety). Friends and coworkers often choose me first to care for their pets because they know I’m calm, consistent, and attentive to every detail. I currently work full-time but am remote two days a week, which allows flexibility for walks, drop-ins, and overnight stays. I’m always available on weekends and for holidays or extended bookings. You’ll receive regular photo updates and detailed check-ins so you can relax knowing your pets — of any species — are safe, happy, and cared for like family. Whether your companion needs structured exercise, daily check-ins, or full overnight care, I’d love to help.
