What to expect from sitters who stay at your place in Darwin

Darwin's pet-sitting calendar revolves around the wet and dry seasons more than school holidays. Most overnight bookings cluster in the dry (May to October); the wet season skews toward indoor drop-in visits and short walks first thing in the morning.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is there a service fee for owners?
No. Petme charges pet owners 0% service fee. You only pay the minder's rate, and you earn automatic cashback on every completed stay.
How much does a house sitter cost in Darwin?
Overnight house sitting in Darwin runs A$60–A$105 per night, depending on the number of pets, the length of the stay, and any plant or mail tasks.
Does the pet minder stay in my home the whole time?
Yes. Your minder sleeps at your place, follows your pet's normal routine, and agrees any short outings with you in advance. Most house-sits include feeding, walks, play, and a daily update.
What if my place has a smart lock or alarm?
Walk the sitter through it at the meet and greet. Plenty of Aussie owners use smart locks and basic keypad alarms; sitters keep codes confidential.
Can the sitter water plants and collect mail?
Yes. Add any household tasks to your booking notes. House sitters typically water plants, collect post, and rotate lights so the home looks lived-in.
Are pet minders in Darwin vetted?
Yes. Every pet minder passes identity and background checks before they can take an overnight booking. The Protection Plan can contribute up to A$32,000 toward eligible vet costs.
How far ahead should I book in Darwin?
A few days is usually enough in Darwin. Sitters here cover a wider radius than in the capitals, so a meet and greet before the first booking saves time later.
Can I book for a couple of weeks?
Yes. Longer trips are common in Darwin, especially over the Christmas and January stretch. Book those early, because the sitters with good reviews fill those dates first.
