How far ahead to book for summer
There is no official lead time. For August, message two or three sitters as soon as your travel is booked rather than waiting on one reply, and meet before the stay. If your dog has never boarded, try one night in the autumn or spring first, when the beaches are open to dogs and the diary is quieter. Check vaccinations early too: the PDSA says unvaccinated pets will not usually be accepted, and warns against leaving kennel cough to the last minute. Kennels in and around Bournemouth set their own prices, usually per dog per day, and some add a summer or bank holiday supplement. Ask any kennel for a written total for your dates. Wherever your dog stays, from Westbourne or Winton to Boscombe or Southbourne, agree drop-off and collection times in writing.Licensing in Bournemouth
In England, boarding dogs in kennels and providing home boarding for dogs as a business are both licensable under The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018. In Bournemouth the licence comes from BCP Council, which covers Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, and each licence carries a star rating, five being the highest. Ask to see it. Our home boarding licence guide covers the details. Petme also has the Protection Plan for eligible vet costs.Bournemouth dog boarding: FAQ
