Tips for Paris dog owners
Getting the most from the city with your dog
Leash Rules
Dogs must be kept on a lead in all Paris parks unless in a designated off-leash enclosure. Bois de Boulogne and Bois de Vincennes have designated freedom zones.
Summer Heat
Paris summers can be hot. Walk during cooler morning and evening hours and carry water for your dog, especially on longer routes through exposed parks.
Dog-Friendly Cafés
Paris is one of Europe's most dog-friendly cities. Most café terrasses welcome well-behaved dogs, and many brasseries keep a water bowl by the door.

Common questions about dog sitting in Paris
Everything you need to know before booking a dog sitter
How much does dog sitting cost in Paris?
Overnight dog boarding in Paris typically costs between €30 and €65 per night depending on the sitter's experience, arrondissement, and your dog's size. Dog walking rates are generally €15 to €30 per walk. You can see each sitter's exact rates on their profile before getting in touch.
Are there good dog parks near central Paris?
Yes. Bois de Boulogne and Bois de Vincennes are the main off-leash destinations for Paris dog owners, but most arrondissements have smaller neighbourhood parks where dogs are welcome on leads. Parc des Buttes-Chaumont in the 19th is a favourite for hilly terrain and lake views.
Can a sitter come to my apartment in Paris?
Yes. Drop-in visits and house sitting are available across all arrondissements. Your sitter comes to your home, lets your dog out, feeds them, and provides company , all without your dog having to leave familiar surroundings.
What happens if my dog gets injured during a sit?
Every booking through Petme includes the Petme Protection Plan, which provides up to €20,000 if your dog is injured or becomes ill during a stay or walk. There is no separate sign-up required , the protection is automatic with every confirmed booking.
How do I know if a dog sitter in Paris is trustworthy?
Every dog sitter on Petme completes identity verification before their profile goes live. Most sitters also have reviews written by dog owners in Paris who have used their services. You can browse each sitter's full profile, view their photos with dogs, check their listed breed experience, and read every review before getting in touch. You are never obligated to book - messaging a sitter is always free.
Does every dog sitting booking in Paris include the Petme Protection Plan?
Yes. Every booking made through Petme - whether it is overnight boarding, a dog walk, or a drop-in visit - includes the Petme Protection Plan, which may contribute up to €20,000 if your dog is injured or becomes ill during a stay or walk. No separate purchase is required, and there is no opt-in process. The plan is included in every booking by default.
Can I meet a dog sitter in Paris before committing to a booking?
Yes. Every Petme booking starts with a free meet-and-greet. You and your dog get to meet the sitter in person before any booking is confirmed. You only go ahead when you are both comfortable - and most dog owners say the meet-and-greet is the step that gives them the most confidence. There is no charge for the meeting and no obligation to proceed.
