A local edge

Local know-how pays off in Letterkenny

Letterkenny has a mild, very wet, windy maritime climate that rarely freezes. Walkers who carry a raincoat and a towel, plan sheltered routes on the wettest days, and keep a steady schedule through the drizzle earn the repeat bookings that fair-weather walkers lose.

When demand peaks

Demand peaks over the summer holidays and the year-end break, plus the mid-term and bank-holiday weekends. Boarding and house sitting lead when owners travel; walking and drop-in visits carry the working week for commuters.

Know your Letterkenny pickup areas

Most daycare bookings cluster Glencar to Ballyraine. Owners drop off on the way to work and collect afterwards, so an easy run to your door matters more than how far you are willing to travel. Your space decides how many dogs you take at once.

Breeds you will meet in Letterkenny

Owners here mostly keep Labrador, Cocker Spaniel, Irish Setter, Kerry Blue Terrier. Knowing how those breeds behave, and saying so on your profile, is what turns a first booking into a repeat client.

Do I need a yard or a commercial space for daycare in Letterkenny?
No. Many Petme hosts run daycare from a home or an apartment with regular walk breaks, from Glencar to Oldtown. You set how many dogs you accept at once and whether your space suits high-energy or large breeds.
Can I set my own daycare schedule and headcount in Letterkenny?
Yes. You choose your days, your hours, and how many dogs you host at a time, and you accept or decline each request. No assigned shifts and no minimum hours, whether owners come from Glencar or Oldtown.
What protection comes with daycare bookings?
The Petme Protection Plan offers up to €20,000 for eligible vet costs for the dog in your care, subject to its terms. The same terms apply across Glencar and Oldtown.
What does a doggy daycare day involve?
Owners drop off in the morning and pick up after work. You provide a safe space, supervised play, water, rest time, and photo updates through the day. Most Letterkenny hosts take a small group they can manage comfortably.
When is doggy daycare busiest in Letterkenny?
Through the working week rather than the holidays. Daycare in Letterkenny runs on owners back in the office who do not want a dog alone all day, so Tuesday to Thursday fill first and the holidays go quiet as those same owners travel and switch to boarding. Set drop-off and pick-up windows you can hold in commuter traffic.
