Finding care in Rotterdam

Care close to home in Rotterdam

A dog who has just moved to Rotterdam is still adjusting to trams, bikes and narrow pavements. Keeping him in his own home with a sitter who walks the same streets, whether that is around Prins Alexander or Noord, spares him a second upheaval while you are away.

The cashback maths

What you save on a typical booking

Worked example: a five-night dog boarding stay in Rotterdam at 35 euro per night.

	Fee-charging platforms	Petme
Sitter rate (5 nights × 35 euro)	175 euro	175 euro
Pet-owner service fee	26-38 euro	0 euro
Booking subtotal	201-213 euro	175 euro
Cashback earned on Petme	-	-9 euro
Effective cost	201-213 euro	166 euro

On typical platforms an owner service fee is added at checkout, so the figure you compared on the profile is not the figure you pay. Petme charges owners nothing, and cashback follows the completed booking.

Comparison

Petme vs other platforms

Other platforms

The total only makes sense once you have reached the payment screen.

Your pet adapts to somebody else's schedule.

One policy covers everyone, whatever the sitter would have preferred.

Nothing comes back to you when the booking is finished.

Petme

Nights multiplied by the sitter's rate. That is the whole calculation.

The sitter follows your feeding times, your walks and your medication notes.

Each sitter publishes their own cancellation policy on their profile.

Cashback is credited to your balance once the booking completes.

Protection and cashback

Protection and cashback, automatic

Protection Plan up to 20,000 euro

A short booking counts like a long one. The Petme Protection Plan can contribute up to 20,000 euro toward eligible vet costs for stays in Rotterdam.

Automatic cashback, no signup, no opt-in

The money comes back after the stay, not as a discount before it, so the sitter is paid their full rate. Your balance grows with each completed booking in Rotterdam and pays for part of the next one.

How it works

Describe your pet honestly

Nervous with strangers, pulls on the lead, hides under the bed. Sitters in Rotterdam answer better when the first message is specific.

Choose who holds the key

You pick the sitter, you meet them, and you hand the key over yourself once the introduction has gone well.

Book the length you need

One visit, a weekend or three weeks. The bill is the sitter's rate for the days booked, with no owner fee on top.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

can I book the same sitter again

Yes, and many owners do. Rebooking someone your pet already knows removes the introductions and the explaining, and the sitter already has your routine. You can message a previous sitter from the app when your next trip comes up.

is Petme a website or an app

Both, with different jobs. You can read sitter profiles and city pages on the website, while messaging, booking and cashback all happen in the iOS and Android app. That keeps every message and every payment on one record you can go back to later.

which services can I book in Rotterdam

Boarding at the sitter's home, house sitting at yours, daycare, dog walks and drop-in visits are all bookable in Rotterdam. Each sitter lists the services they offer on their profile, along with the rate for each one, so you can see straight away who covers what you need.

what does a pet sitter cost in Rotterdam

Sitters set their own rates, and in Rotterdam boarding usually falls between 25 and 50 euro a night while drop-in visits run about 12 to 22 euro. The rate you see on the profile is the amount you pay, because owners pay no service fee on Petme. Cashback is credited to your balance after the booking finishes.

what happens if my pet gets ill during a booking

The Petme Protection Plan can contribute up to 20,000 euro toward eligible vet costs. Agree with your sitter beforehand which vet to use and leave the clinic details with them in the chat. The plan can apply to a single drop-in visit and to a two week stay alike.

how do I find a pet sitter in Rotterdam if I do not speak Dutch

Start in the app, where profiles, messages and bookings all sit in one place. You read each sitter's profile, send a message about your dates and your pet, and arrange a free meet and greet before anything is confirmed. That meeting is also where you find out how you and the sitter communicate best.
