Finding care in The Hague

Care close to home in The Hague

A dog who has just moved to The Hague is still adjusting to trams, bikes and narrow pavements. Keeping him in his own home with a sitter who walks the same streets, whether that is around Benoordenhout or Haagse Hout, spares him a second upheaval while you are away.

The cashback maths

What you save on a typical booking

Worked example: a five-night dog boarding stay in The Hague at 35 euro per night.

	Fee-charging platforms	Petme
Sitter rate (5 nights × 35 euro)	175 euro	175 euro
Pet-owner service fee	26-38 euro	0 euro
Booking subtotal	201-213 euro	175 euro
Cashback earned on Petme	-	-9 euro
Effective cost	201-213 euro	166 euro

The left column reflects what typical platforms do: take a cut from the owner as well as the sitter. Petme takes none from the owner, so the sitter's rate and your total are the same number.

How it works

Read the profiles

Each sitter in The Hague lists their rate, the services they offer, their cancellation policy and reviews from previous owners.

Meet before you commit

The meet and greet is free and usually happens at your address, so the sitter sees the flat, the food and how your pet behaves at home.

Confirm and travel

Book inside the app, agree how often you want to hear from the sitter, and go. The Protection Plan can contribute toward eligible vet costs.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

how far ahead should I book a sitter in The Hague

Earlier than feels necessary, especially around school holidays and long weekends when many The Hague households travel in the same fortnight. Availability differs per sitter and per week, so message a few profiles rather than waiting on one reply to come back.

is Petme a website or an app

Both, with different jobs. You can read sitter profiles and city pages on the website, while messaging, booking and cashback all happen in the iOS and Android app. That keeps every message and every payment on one record you can go back to later.

can I meet the sitter before booking in The Hague

Yes, and a meet and greet is free. It usually happens at your own address, so the sitter sees where the food is kept and how your pet behaves at home. Keys, feeding times and any medication go over at that meeting, and you book afterwards if it feels right.

what does the 0% owner fee mean in practice

It means the sitter's rate is your whole bill. Typical platforms add a service fee for the owner at checkout, on top of what the sitter charges. Petme does not, so a five night stay costs five nights of the sitter's rate and nothing more.

what does a pet sitter cost in The Hague

Sitters set their own rates, and in The Hague boarding usually falls between 25 and 50 euro a night while drop-in visits run about 12 to 22 euro. The rate you see on the profile is the amount you pay, because owners pay no service fee on Petme. Cashback is credited to your balance after the booking finishes.

which services can I book in The Hague

Boarding at the sitter's home, house sitting at yours, daycare, dog walks and drop-in visits are all bookable in The Hague. Each sitter lists the services they offer on their profile, along with the rate for each one, so you can see straight away who covers what you need.
