FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does a house sitter cost in Palmerston North?
Overnight house sitting in Palmerston North runs NZ$55-NZ$85 per night (GST inclusive), depending on the number of pets, the length of the stay, and any plant or mail tasks.
Does the sitter live in my home full-time?
Yes. Your sitter sleeps at your place, follows your pet's normal routine, and short outings are agreed in advance. Most house-sits include feeding, walks, play, and a daily update.
What if my place has a smart lock or alarm?
Walk the sitter through it at the meet and greet. Plenty of Kiwi owners use smart locks and basic keypad alarms; sitters keep codes confidential.
Can the sitter water plants and collect mail?
Yes. Add any household tasks to your booking notes. House sitters typically water plants, collect post, and rotate lights so the home looks lived-in.
Are house sitters in Palmerston North vetted?
Yes. Every sitter passes identity and background checks. The Protection Plan can contribute up to NZ$39,000+ toward eligible vet costs.
Is there a service fee for owners?
No. Petme charges pet owners 0% service fee. You only pay the sitter's rate, and you earn automatic cashback on every completed stay.
