Porto-specific tips every dog owner should know
Steep Streets

Ocean Currents
Atlantic currents at Foz can be strong. Supervise dogs near the water and avoid rough surf days.
Summer Heat
Porto summers can be warm. Walk early morning or evening and stick to shaded park routes.

Common questions about dog sitting in Porto
Everything you need to know before booking a dog sitter
How much do dog sitters in Porto charge?
Porto dog sitters typically charge between 14 and 38 euros per night for boarding, and 8 to 18 euros per walk.
Are Porto dog sitters verified?
Yes. All Petme sitters in Porto are ID-verified with reviews from local dog owners.
Can I find a dog walker near Parque da Cidade?
Yes. Many sitters in Foz do Douro and Boavista regularly walk dogs through Parque da Cidade.
Do Porto sitters handle large breeds?
Many Porto sitters have experience with large breeds. Check profiles and discuss your dog's needs.
How do I know if a dog sitter in Porto is trustworthy?
Every dog sitter on Petme completes identity verification before their profile goes live. Most sitters also have reviews written by dog owners in Porto who have used their services. You can browse each sitter's full profile, view their photos with dogs, check their listed breed experience, and read every review before getting in touch. You are never obligated to book - messaging a sitter is always free.
Does every dog sitting booking in Porto include the Petme Protection Plan?
Yes. Every booking made through Petme - whether it is overnight boarding, a dog walk, or a drop-in visit - includes the Petme Protection Plan, which may contribute up to €20,000 if your dog is injured or becomes ill during a stay or walk. No separate purchase is required, and there is no opt-in process. The plan is included in every booking by default.
Can I meet a dog sitter in Porto before committing to a booking?
Yes. Every Petme booking starts with a free meet-and-greet. You and your dog get to meet the sitter in person before any booking is confirmed. You only go ahead when you are both comfortable - and most dog owners say the meet-and-greet is the step that gives them the most confidence. There is no charge for the meeting and no obligation to proceed.
