I’ve been pet sitting for about three years now, and it’s honestly one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. Living here, you meet all kinds of pets and pet parents. Most of my clients are dog owners, and I spend a lot of time walking pups in their neighborhoods or taking them for beach-side strolls. But I’ve also cared for cats, birds, and even a couple of iguanas - South Florida really keeps things interesting! What I love most is building long-term trust. Some of the dogs I’ve watched since they were tiny puppies are now full-grown adults who still get so excited when I show up at their door. A lot of owners tell me they feel relieved knowing their pets are with someone who treats them like family. The Miami heat can be tricky, so I’m always careful to walk pets early in the morning or closer to sunset, and I keep plenty of water with me. I’ve gotten good at spotting signs of overheating, which is something owners here really appreciate. I’d say what sets me apart is my mix of reliability and genuine love for animals. I send lots of photo updates, I’m punctual, and I try to add little extras - like teaching basic commands, or bringing a dog’s favorite frozen treat on a hot day. Over time, many clients have become friends, and their pets feel like an extension of my own family.
