Choosing a house sitter

What makes a house sitter in Spain reliable

A house sitter has your keys and your pet, so check three things before you book: who they are, what past owners say, and what happens if something goes wrong. On Petme, sitters go through ID and background checks, reviews come from completed bookings, and you can message a sitter with your questions before you confirm. Payment stays in the app, and the Protection Plan can contribute up to €20,000 toward eligible vet costs.

Common questions

House sitting in Spain. Your questions answered.

What is house sitting in Spain?
House sitting means a trusted sitter stays in your home while you're away, caring for your pets and keeping their routine. Your pet stays in a familiar environment instead of moving to a stranger's home or a boarding facility. In Spain, this service typically costs €30-€65 per night depending on the city and number of pets.
How do I find a house sitter in Spain with Petme?
Enter your location on Petme, select "house sitting" as the service type, and browse verified local sitters offering it. You can read real reviews from other owners, message sitters before booking, and arrange a meet-and-greet before confirming.

No. Petme charges owners no service fee in Spain. The rate shown on the sitter profile is the final price you pay. No percentage is added at checkout. You also receive automatic cashback after every completed booking.
What is the difference between house sitting and boarding in Spain?
With house sitting, the sitter comes to your home and stays there while you travel. Your pet stays in their own familiar environment. With boarding, your pet goes to the sitter's home and sleeps there. House sitting is preferred for pets that are anxious in new environments or for families with multiple pets.
Is house sitting available in smaller Spanish cities?
Petme has sitters offering this service in cities across Spain, including Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Malaga, Bilbao, Alicante, Zaragoza, and many smaller towns. Availability depends on the sitters active in your area.
Are Petme house sitters verified?
Yes. Every Petme sitter completes identity verification before their profile is visible to owners. You can also read verified reviews from previous clients and chat with a sitter before confirming the booking.
What are the most reliable house sitting services in Spain?
The most reliable house sitting services in Spain check who they let into your home, show reviews from real bookings and have a plan if something goes wrong.
