Local know-how pays off in Pontefract

Pontefract gets rain in every season, frosty spells in winter and short days from November. On a cat round that means checking the heating and the windows, drying a cat that comes in wet, and fitting visits into daylight when the owner asks for it.

When owners travel

Cat visits peak over the summer holidays, Christmas and New Year, with a second wave on the February, May and October half-terms and the bank-holiday weekends. Outside those dates, weekday visits cover work trips and weekends away.

Common questions

Cat Sitting Jobs in Pontefract

What new sitters ask before signing up on Petme in Pontefract.

How much do cat sitters earn per visit in Pontefract?
Drop-in cat visits on Petme in Pontefract run £10 to £16 per 20 to 30 minute visit. You set your own rate per visit, and you keep up to 90% of every booking.
Can I set my own visit schedule in Pontefract?
Yes. You set your available hours and accept or decline each request. Morning and evening visit slots fill first, and you can stack several nearby visits around Tanshelf and Baghill into one efficient round.
What protection do I get on cat sitting bookings?
The Petme Protection Plan offers up to £20,000 for eligible vet costs for the cat in your care, subject to its terms. The same terms apply whether you sit in Tanshelf or Baghill.
Where is cat sitting demand strongest in Pontefract?
Pontefract, Carleton, Chequerfield and Tanshelf are WF8. Most cat owners book a sitter within their own neighborhood, so listing the areas you cover sharpens your visibility.
What does a typical cat sitting visit involve?
A standard drop-in runs 20 to 30 minutes: feeding, fresh water, litter scooping, playtime, and a photo update to the owner in chat. Many Pontefract owners book one or two visits a day while they travel.
What should I check on a winter cat visit in Pontefract?
Check the home as well as the cat. On a Pontefract winter visit that means confirming the heating is still on, topping up water that sits near a draughty window, keeping the litter and feeding routine exactly as the owner left it, and sending the owner a short note if anything looks wrong.
Which parts of Pontefract can I cover for cat visits?
Pick the districts you can reach twice a day, such as Tanshelf or Baghill. Pontefract, Carleton, Chequerfield and Tanshelf are WF8, with Knottingley on WF11 and Ackworth on WF7. Owners prefer someone close, so list those names on your Petme profile.
Do Pontefract race meetings change cat visit times?
Around the park, they can. Meetings at the racecourse bring cars to the roads near Pontefract Park and the M62 junction. Look at the fixture list and settle visit times with owners on that side of town beforehand.
