Dog Sitting Jobs in Basildon

Dog sitting jobs in Basildon, where commuter households and garden homes book overnight boarding

Basildon runs on C2C commuters who leave early for Fenchurch Street and often travel at weekends, and their dogs need a warm home to stay in overnight rather than a kennel. That is the gap Petme dog sitters fill, hosting one or two dogs in your own home for the higher overnight rate. Dog boarding in Basildon runs £24 to £38 per night, and you keep up to 90% of every booking.

A local edge

Local know-how pays off in Basildon

Basildon has a wet maritime climate with rain spread across the year, frosty spells in winter, and short winter days that leave a narrow window of daylight. Walkers who carry a raincoat and a towel, plan sheltered routes on the wettest days, and hold their slots through the drizzle keep the regulars that fair-weather walkers lose.

When demand peaks

Demand peaks over the summer holidays and across Christmas and New Year, with a second wave on the February, May and October half-terms and the bank-holiday weekends. Boarding and house sitting lead when owners travel; walking, daycare and drop-in visits carry the commuting week.

Know your Basildon areas

Most bookings cluster Pitsea to Vange. Owners look for sitters who know the area and can reach them without a long trip.

Breeds you will meet in Basildon

Owners here mostly keep Labrador Retriever, Cocker Spaniel, French Bulldog, Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Knowing how those breeds behave, and saying so on your profile, is what turns a first booking into a repeat client.

Dog care in Basildon

Boarding near Basildon’s country parks

Owners choosing a boarding host look for a settled home and good walks nearby. Around Basildon that could be Norsey Wood on the edge of Billericay, Langdon Hills above Laindon or Wat Tyler Country Park at Pitsea. Covering two or three neighbouring areas keeps drop-offs and collections short rather than stretching across the whole town.

Common questions

Dog Sitting Jobs in Basildon

What new sitters ask before signing up on Petme in Basildon.

Are there jobs in Basildon?
Yes. Work in Basildon comes from owners nearby who need a walk, a drop-in visit, daycare or an overnight stay. You are self-employed, so you decline anything that does not suit and there is no minimum to hit.
What is the difference between dog sitting and dog walking as work in Basildon?
Both are worth listing. Sitters in Basildon commonly run one as their base and take the other when it appears, and since each has its own rate on your profile, neither undercuts the other.
Can I pick up dog sitting jobs near me in Basildon?
The jobs come to you rather than the other way round. List the Basildon areas you can cover, and owners inside them send requests you are free to turn down.
Are there jobs in Pitsea?
Yes. Owners in Basildon send booking requests to sitters who cover their area. You accept or decline each one. You set the rate per service and get paid through the app.
How much can I earn dog sitting in Basildon?
Dog boarding on Petme in Basildon runs £24 to £38 per night, with daycare and walks adding daytime income. You set your own rate per service, and you keep up to 90% of every booking.
Can I board dogs in a flat in Basildon?
Usually not at your own flat. In England, licensed home boarding needs a home with its own entrance and a private, non-communal outdoor area, and a balcony does not count, so check with your licensing authority first. Overnight dog sitting in the owner's home is a different service, and you can offer it wherever you live in Basildon.
What is the difference between dog boarding and doggy daycare?
Boarding is overnight, billed per night, while the owner travels. Daycare is daytime only, billed per day, for owners at work. You can offer either or both and set a separate rate for each.
Do I choose which dogs and bookings I accept in Basildon?
Yes. You review each request, arrange a meet first if you want, and accept or decline. No assigned bookings and no minimum hours, whether the owner is in Pitsea or Laindon. You set your rates and availability per service.
What protection do I get on dog sitting bookings?
Every confirmed Petme booking, including boarding and daycare, includes £20,000 in Protection Plan for the dog in your care, at no cost to you or the owner. The same cover applies across Pitsea and Laindon.
Does overnight dog sitting in Basildon slow down over the winter?
No, it shifts. Overnight stays in Basildon peak over Christmas and New Year while owners travel, then hold through the February half-term. Winter stays mean more indoor time and muddier walks, so agree the walk routine and the drying arrangements at the meet and greet rather than on the doorstep.
Do I need a licence to board dogs at home in Basildon?
If you host dogs overnight for payment as a business in Basildon, you may need a home boarding licence from Basildon Council under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. Occasional sitting for a friend usually falls outside it, but check with the council before you scale up, since rules turn on how often you board and whether it is run as a business.
Do I need a garden to board dogs in Basildon?
A secure garden helps a lot for dog boarding in Basildon, especially in the housing estates around Laindon and Wickford where owners expect safe outdoor space. You can still board without one by staying near a park or green and doing regular walks, and Petme lets you set which dog sizes and needs you accept, so you only take bookings your home suits.
