A local edge

Local know-how pays off in Gloucester

Gloucester has a wet maritime climate with rain spread across the year, frosty spells in winter, and short winter days that leave a narrow window of daylight. Walkers who carry a raincoat and a towel, plan sheltered routes on the wettest days, and hold their slots through the drizzle keep the regulars that fair-weather walkers lose.

When owners travel

Demand peaks over the summer holidays and across Christmas and New Year, with a second wave on the February, May and October half-terms and the bank-holiday weekends. Boarding and house sitting lead when owners travel; walking, daycare and drop-in visits carry the commuting week.

Know your Gloucester pickup areas

Most daycare bookings cluster Quedgeley to Hucclecote. Owners drop off on the way to work and collect afterwards, so an easy run to your door matters more than how far you are willing to travel. Your space decides how many dogs you take at once.

Breeds you will meet in Gloucester

Owners here mostly keep Labrador Retriever, Cocker Spaniel, French Bulldog, Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Knowing how those breeds behave, and saying so on your profile, is what turns a first booking into a repeat client.

Daycare in Gloucester

Hosting daycare from a Gloucester home

Daycare on Petme is hosted in your home, for dogs whose owners both work full days. Longlevens, Hucclecote and Barnwood are settled family streets with easy runs out to the business parks and the M5, and Quedgeley has newer estates near the canal towpath. Hosting from two or three neighbouring areas keeps drop-offs and pick-ups short without long drives between them.

Common questions

Doggy Daycare Jobs in Gloucester

What new sitters ask before signing up on Petme in Gloucester.

Are there jobs in Gloucester?
Yes. There is pet-care work in Gloucester through Petme. You set your own coverage and rates, take the bookings that fit, and get paid through the app to your bank.
How much do doggy daycare hosts earn per day in Gloucester?
Doggy daycare on Petme in Gloucester runs £16 to £28 per day. You set your own day rate and headcount, and you keep up to 90% of every booking.
Do I need a yard or a commercial space for daycare in Gloucester?
No. Many Petme hosts run daycare from a home or an apartment with regular walk breaks, from Quedgeley to Tuffley. You set how many dogs you accept at once and whether your space suits high-energy or large breeds.
Can I set my own daycare schedule and headcount in Gloucester?
Yes. You choose your days, your hours, and how many dogs you host at a time, and you accept or decline each request. No assigned shifts and no minimum hours, whether owners come from Quedgeley or Tuffley.
What protection comes with daycare bookings?
Every confirmed Petme booking, including doggy daycare, includes £20,000 in Protection Plan for the dog in your care, at no cost to you or the owner. The same cover applies across Quedgeley and Tuffley.
What does a doggy daycare day involve?
Owners drop off in the morning and pick up after work. You provide a safe space, supervised play, water, rest time, and photo updates through the day. Most Gloucester hosts take a small group they can manage comfortably.
What does a wet winter daycare day look like in Gloucester?
Shorter outdoor bursts and more indoor rest. A Gloucester daycare day in January runs on indoor play with brief garden or street breaks rather than long stretches outside, towels by the door, and muddy paws cleaned off before pick-up. Set drop-off and pick-up windows you can hold in winter traffic and stick to them.
Is small-group daycare or one dog at a time better in Gloucester?
Both work well in Gloucester, and you decide. A single dog suits a quiet flat in Barnwood or Abbeydale, while a small group of two or three calm dogs fits a house with a garden in Longlevens or Hucclecote. You set the headcount that matches your space and the energy levels you are happy to supervise through the day.
When is weekday daycare busiest around Longlevens and Hucclecote?
Daycare is a working-week service, so Monday to Friday is when owners in Longlevens and Hucclecote who commute to the business parks or the aerospace sites need it. Handovers follow their working day, usually an early drop-off and a late-afternoon pick-up. Naming your own morning and evening windows lets owners see whether you fit their day.
