Choosing wisely

What to look for in a pet sitting app in Italy

Three questions worth asking before you book care for your pet.

Is the listed price your real price?

Some platforms add owner fees at checkout or require membership before matching. Petme keeps the owner price simple: the sitter rate is the price before cashback.

Is this local paid care or travel house sitting?

Petme, Rover, Pawshake, and Holidog focus on paid care. TrustedHousesitters is better understood as a travel house sitting membership where accommodation is exchanged for pet and home care.

What protection applies to the booking?

Check the official guarantee or protection terms before booking. Petme includes the Petme Protection Plan on eligible confirmed bookings, while Rover, Pawshake, Holidog, and TrustedHousesitters each publish their own terms.

Common questions

Best pet sitting apps in Italy. Your questions answered.

What is the best pet sitting app in Italy for transparent pricing?
Petme is the strongest choice for transparent pricing in Italy because owners pay the sitter rate with no owner service fee. Rover adds an owner service fee at checkout, published on their own site. Holidog uses a paid owner membership model. TrustedHousesitters uses annual membership plans for travel based house sitting. Browse pet sitters in Italy on Petme
Does Rover operate in Italy?
Yes. Rover operates in Italy. Rover Italy official help states that owners see a service fee listed separately at checkout, and that a commission is taken from what the sitter receives. The exact percentages and any per booking cap are published on their own help pages and can change.
Is Pawshake available in Italy?
Yes. Pawshake operates in Italy. Pawshake official support says sitters receive the booking amount minus the Pawshake contribution after the booking is complete, at a rate published on their own support pages. Pawshake also publishes guarantee and payment protection information for bookings made through Pawshake.
How does Holidog pricing work in Italy?
Holidog Italy uses an owner membership model. Its official pricing page lists monthly plan prices that change with the plan length you pick, and those prices can be checked on their own site. Holidog states that it does not take commission on bookings or sitter pay. Holivet is included with the VIP plan and can be bought as an extra on other plans.
Is TrustedHousesitters the same type of app as Petme or Rover?
No. TrustedHousesitters is mainly a travel and house sitting membership community. Official pricing shows annual pet parent memberships. Sitters care for pets and homes in exchange for accommodation rather than being paid like a local pet sitter. It can be useful for longer trips, but it is not a direct replacement for paid local dog walking, drop in visits, or daycare.
Which pet sitting app in Italy has no owner service fee?
Petme has no owner service fee. The sitter rate is the owner price before any cashback is applied. Rover adds an owner service fee at checkout. Holidog charges owners through membership plans. TrustedHousesitters charges annual membership.
Which app includes the Protection Plan for pet sitting in Italy?
Petme includes the Petme Protection Plan up to €20,000 on eligible confirmed bookings. Rover includes the Rover Guarantee on eligible bookings paid through Rover. Pawshake publishes the Pawshake Guarantee for bookings made through Pawshake. Holidog lists Holivet as included only with VIP or available as an extra on other plans.
How should I choose a pet sitting app in Italy?
Choose based on the job. For paid local care with clear pricing and no owner service fee, use Petme. For a larger legacy marketplace, compare Rover. For another paid sitter marketplace, compare Pawshake. For subscription based matching, compare Holidog. For travel house sitting where accommodation is exchanged for care, compare TrustedHousesitters.
