Why Petme

Why owners pick Petme for cat sitters

You keep up to 90% per visit

Petme charges pet owners 0%. You set your own rate per visit and Petme’s small platform commission is the only deduction.

Visits stack into an efficient round

Cat visits run 20 to 30 minutes, so several bookings in nearby streets fit into one trip. Owners travelling for a week book one or two visits a day.

You agree the routine before you start

Feeding, litter, medication and how often to send photo updates are settled with the owner in chat and at the meet and greet, not improvised on day one.

CAD 32,000 vet protection on every visit

Every confirmed booking includes up to CAD 32,000 in vet expenses at any licensed Canadian vet clinic, at no cost to you or the owner.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a business licence to sit pets in Canada?
Small-scale sitting can be reported as self-employment without provincial business registration. Registration is usually only needed once you operate under a business name or exceed local thresholds.
Do I have to register for HST/GST?
Yes, if you exceed CAD 32,000 in pet sitting revenue over four consecutive calendar quarters. Below that threshold, registration is voluntary.
Can I sit in addition to a day job?
Yes. Many Petme sitters fit walks and drop-ins around a day job; boarding works for evenings, weekends, and vacation periods.
How much of each booking do I keep?
Up to 90% of every booking. Petme charges pet owners 0% and keeps a small platform commission on the sitter side. You set your own rate.
Can I sit cats if I have my own cat?
Yes, since cat sitting happens at the owner’s home. You only visit and leave. No interaction between your pets and the sitting pet.
What if the cat needs medication?
Many sitters administer oral and topical medication. Discuss specifics at the meet and greet.
