Most pet sitting platforms add service fees and booking surcharges on top of a sitter's listed rate. The price you see when browsing is not the price you pay at checkout. Petme works differently: pet parents pay the sitter's rate and nothing on top of it. Every completed booking also earns cashback, which accumulates with each sitting you book.
Creating a Petme profile is free and takes a few minutes, whether you sign up through the web at petme.social or by downloading the app for iOS or Android. Full functionality is available on both.
What you get access to
Once your profile is live, you can browse verified sitters near you for all of Petme's core services: boarding (your pet stays at the sitter's home overnight), drop-in visits (a sitter visits your pet at your home), doggy day care (your dog spends the day at the sitter's home), dog walking, and house sitting (a sitter stays in your home while you're away).
Every sitter on Petme has completed identity verification and a background check before their profile went live. You won't find anonymous listings or unverified individuals. When you browse sitter profiles, you're looking at people who have been checked and whose ongoing social feed — their home, their own pets, their daily life with animals in their care — is visible before you ever send a message.
Pet parents initiate all contact. Sitters cannot search for or message pet parents. You browse, you choose when and who to reach out to, and there's no pressure or obligation until you confirm a booking.
Every eligible booking also comes with the Petme Protection Plan, which may contribute to eligible vet costs up to €20,000 for serious injuries that occur during a booked sitting. It's a discretionary fund, not insurance, and eligibility conditions apply — but it adds a layer of reassurance that standard bookings through other platforms don't include.
How to create your profile
Step 1: Sign up
Go to petme.social and register through the web, or download the app for iOS or Android. You can sign up with email, Apple ID, or Google — whichever you prefer.
Step 2: Add your details
Add your name, country, and date of birth. These are the required fields. Everything else — bio, location detail, preferences — can be filled in later and doesn't need to be complete before you start browsing sitters.
Step 3: Add a profile photo
A clear photo helps sitters recognise you when you reach out and is part of how trust works in both directions on the platform. A photo with your pet works well here. This can be updated any time.
Step 4: Add your pet's profile
Creating a profile for your pet — breed, age, any relevant care notes — gives sitters the information they need to confirm they're the right fit for your animal. You can add multiple pets. Here's how to create a pet profile.
Step 5: Browse sitters and make your first booking
With your profile set up, you can search for sitters in your area by service type, browse their profiles, and send a booking request when you find the right match. The rate shown on a sitter's profile is what you'll pay — no fees added at checkout, and cashback credited after the booking completes.
Frequently asked questions
1. Is Petme free to use?
Creating a profile and browsing sitters is completely free — no subscription, no trial, no cost to explore. You pay only when you confirm a booking, and what you pay is the sitter's rate with 0% service fees added on top. Every completed booking also earns cashback.
2. Can I use Petme on a computer, or do I need the app?
Both. Petme is fully accessible through the web at petme.social as well as through the iOS and Android apps. You can sign up, browse sitters, manage bookings, and do everything else from either. Use whichever you prefer — functionality is the same.
3. How does the 0% fee model work?
When you book a sitter on Petme, you pay their listed rate. There are no service fees, booking surcharges, or platform charges added to that amount at checkout. The cashback you earn on each completed booking is returned to your account and accumulates over time. On most competing platforms, service fees of 5–20% are added at checkout on top of the sitter's rate — this is the pricing gap Petme is designed to close.
4. How do I know sitters on Petme are trustworthy?
All sitters on Petme complete identity verification and a background check before their profile goes live. Beyond the verification, every sitter profile includes an ongoing social feed — not a static bio — showing their home, their own pets, and how they interact with animals in their care. You can follow a sitter's profile, browse their content, and build familiarity at your own pace before you ever send a booking request. 🐾
