Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about finding a trusted pet sitter in Denmark.

How much does a pet sitter cost in Denmark?
Drop-in visits run 150-220 kr, dog walks 150-250 kr per walk, doggy daycare 225-375 kr per day, house sitting 200-350 kr per night. Sitters set their own rates and you see the exact price before booking.
Are Petme pet sitters in Denmark verified?
Yes. Every sitter passes ID verification with a government-issued document and a background check. Each booking includes up to 150,000 kr in vet protection at no extra cost.
Which Danish cities have Petme sitters?
Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg, Esbjerg, Randers, Kolding, Horsens, Vejle, Roskilde and Frederiksberg, plus smaller towns and rural areas across all five regions of Denmark.
What is included in the 150,000 kr vet protection?
Emergency vet expenses if your pet is injured during a Petme booking, at any licensed Danish vet clinic, with no deductible. Coverage runs from drop-off to pick-up.
Is there a service fee for pet owners?
No. Petme charges 0% service fee for pet owners. You pay only the sitter's rate and you earn cashback on every completed booking, credited automatically to your Petme balance.
Can I find a sitter for sommerhus or fællesferie?
Yes. Many Danish sitters travel to sommerhus on Bornholm, the West Coast or Møn during fællesferie and school holidays. Filter by date in the app and message a few sitters in chat.
How do I meet a sitter before booking?
Use the free meet and greet inside the Petme app. Hand over keys, walk the sitter through your routine, and confirm everything in person before the booking starts.
What pets can I book a sitter for?
Dogs, cats, rabbits, small mammals, birds and reptiles. Filter sitter profiles by pet type and look for the badge that matches the species you keep at home.
I already have lovpligtig hundeansvarsforsikring. How does Petme protection work alongside it?
Your mandatory Danish dog liability insurance covers damage your dog causes to others, while the Petme Protection Plan covers up to 150,000 kr in emergency vet expenses if your pet is injured during a booking. They sit side by side, so you keep your own policy and Petme adds vet cover on top at no extra cost for the duration of each stay.
How do payments and cashback work?
You pay only the rate the sitter sets, with a 0% service fee for owners, and payment is handled securely inside the Petme app rather than in cash. Once a booking is completed, cashback is credited automatically to your Petme balance to spend on your next booking, with no minimum and no expiry.
What happens if a sitter cancels at the last minute?
If a sitter cancels, Petme support helps you rebook and any payment for the cancelled stay is returned to your balance. Because you can message several sitters before booking, it is worth lining up a backup for busy periods like fællesferie or Christmas. Open a ticket in the app and support responds directly.
Should I book boarding, house sitting or drop-in visits?
Choose dog boarding (200 kr and up per night) when your dog is happy staying in the sitter’s home, house sitting (200-350 kr per night) when you want a sitter to stay at your place and keep your pet’s routine, and drop-in visits (150-220 kr) for cats or independent dogs that need feeding and company a few times a day. Doggy daycare (225-375 kr per day) suits dogs that need company while you work.
Can a sitter walk my dog in winter and use a cargo bike in the city?
Yes. Danish sitters routinely walk dogs through dark, cold and wet winter days, and many city sitters can take a calm dog along by cargo bike for errands or trips to a hundeskov. Note any coat, booties or transport preferences in chat, and arrange a meet and greet first if your dog has not ridden in a cargo bike before.
