A local edge

Local know-how pays off in Galway

Galway has a mild, very wet, windy maritime climate that rarely freezes. Walkers who carry a raincoat and a towel, plan sheltered routes on the wettest days, and keep a steady schedule through the drizzle earn the repeat bookings that fair-weather walkers lose.

When demand peaks

Demand peaks over the summer holidays and the year-end break, plus the mid-term and bank-holiday weekends. Boarding and house sitting lead when owners travel; walking and drop-in visits carry the working week for commuters.

Know your Galway areas

Most bookings cluster Salthill to Renmore. Owners look for sitters who know the area and can reach them without a long trip.

Breeds you will meet in Galway

Owners here mostly keep Labrador, Cocker Spaniel, Irish Setter, Kerry Blue Terrier. Knowing how those breeds behave, and saying so on your profile, is what turns a first booking into a repeat client.

Common questions

House Sitting Jobs in Galway

What new sitters ask before signing up on Petme in Galway.

How much do house sitters earn per night in Galway?
House sitting on Petme in Galway runs €36 to €60 per night. You set your own nightly rate, and you keep up to 90% of every booking.
How is house sitting different from boarding in Galway?
With house sitting you go to the owner's home; with boarding the pet comes to you. House sitting suits pets that do better in their own space, and it is billed per night the same way.
Can I choose which house sitting jobs I accept in Galway?
Yes. You review each home and pet, arrange a meet first if you want, and accept or decline. You set your nightly rate and your available dates, whether the home is in Salthill or Knocknacarra. No assigned bookings and no minimum nights.
What protection comes with house sitting bookings?
The Petme Protection Plan offers up to €20,000 for eligible vet costs for the pet in your care, subject to its terms. The same terms apply whether you stay in Salthill or Knocknacarra.
What does house sitting involve?
You stay in the owner's home and keep their pet's routine: feeding, walks, play, and company overnight, plus basics like mail and plants if asked. Owners book it so their pet stays in familiar surroundings while they travel.
What does a house sit in Galway actually involve?
Staying in the owner's home and keeping their pets on their own routine. In Galway that means the feeding and walking pattern they left, the house lived in, and the heating held at their setting through a wet winter. Agree at the meet and greet what to do if the heating or a pipe gives trouble while they are away.
