Frequently asked
Questions from Republic Street area owners
Are stairs an issue in Republic Street palazzini?
They can be. Most Valletta buildings are walk-up and sitters factor stair access into the visit routine, especially for senior or large dogs.
Where do dogs walk in Valletta?
Upper Barrakka Gardens, Hastings Gardens, the harbour promenades on both sides, and the perimeter walk around the bastions. Sitters cycle these routes through the week.
Is Republic Street safe with a dog at peak hours?
Mostly yes, but very busy at midday. Most sitters route around Republic Street via Merchant or Old Theatre Street to avoid the crowd.
How do sitters handle the summer heat in Republic Street area?
By moving the day around it. Walks go early in the morning and again after sunset, pavements get checked with a hand before a dog is taken out on them, and the middle of the day is for shade, water and quiet indoors. Agree the timings with your Valletta sitter when you book, and say so if your dog is a flat-faced breed or an older one that struggles in the heat.
What do I need to have in order before booking in Republic Street area?
Your dog should be microchipped and on the national register, which is required in Malta under the Electronic Identification of Dogs Regulations. Beyond that, give your Republic Street area sitter the vet you use, the feeding routine, and a note of how your dog behaves with other dogs on a narrow street, which comes up more in Valletta than in most places.
What does Petme cover in Republic Street area?
Verified pet sitters offering boarding, in-home sitting, drop-in visits and dog walks across Republic Street area. The Protection Plan can contribute up to €20,000 toward eligible vet costs.
Is there a booking fee?
No. Petme charges 0% to pet owners. The rate on the sitter's profile is exactly what you pay at checkout.
