Frequently asked
Questions from Upper Barrakka area owners
Are dogs welcome in Upper Barrakka Gardens?
Yes, on lead. The gardens are one of the most popular morning and sunset walks in Valletta, with shaded benches and Grand Harbour views.
Is the area accessible for senior dogs?
Yes from the Lascaris lift; the gardens themselves are flat. Approaching on foot from the City Gate side involves a steady incline that may be too much for senior dogs.
Are sitters comfortable with foreign-professional travel patterns?
Yes. Many Upper Barrakka sitters work with diplomats, consultants and remote workers who travel on irregular schedules and need flexible drop-in coverage.
How do sitters handle the summer heat in Upper Barrakka area?
By moving the day around it. Walks go early in the morning and again after sunset, pavements get checked with a hand before a dog is taken out on them, and the middle of the day is for shade, water and quiet indoors. Agree the timings with your Valletta sitter when you book, and say so if your dog is a flat-faced breed or an older one that struggles in the heat.
What do I need to have in order before booking in Upper Barrakka area?
Your dog should be microchipped and on the national register, which is required in Malta under the Electronic Identification of Dogs Regulations. Beyond that, give your Upper Barrakka area sitter the vet you use, the feeding routine, and a note of how your dog behaves with other dogs on a narrow street, which comes up more in Valletta than in most places.
What does Petme cover in Upper Barrakka area?
Verified pet sitters offering boarding, in-home sitting, drop-in visits and dog walks across Upper Barrakka area. Every booking includes €20,000 Protection Plan at no extra cost.
Is there a booking fee?
