Finding care in Utrecht

Care close to home in Utrecht

Booking ahead matters more in Utrecht than in a small town, because the school holidays empty out whole streets at once. If you live around Lunetten or Leidsche Rijn, message several profiles at the same time rather than waiting on one reply before you try the next.

The cashback maths

What you save on a typical booking

Worked example: a five-night dog boarding stay in Utrecht at 35 euro per night.

	Fee-charging platforms	Petme
Sitter rate (5 nights × 35 euro)	175 euro	175 euro
Pet-owner service fee	26-38 euro	0 euro
Booking subtotal	201-213 euro	175 euro
Cashback earned on Petme	-	-9 euro
Effective cost	201-213 euro	166 euro

The comparison column shows typical platforms, which add an owner service fee on top of the sitter's rate at checkout. Petme does not, and cashback is credited to your balance after the booking completes.

Protection and cashback

Protection and cashback, automatic

Protection Plan up to 20,000 euro

The Petme Protection Plan can contribute up to 20,000 euro toward eligible vet costs in Utrecht, whether the booking is a single walk or a two week stay.

Automatic cashback, no signup, no opt-in

The money comes back after the stay, not as a discount before it, so the sitter is paid their full rate. Your balance grows with each completed booking in Utrecht and pays for part of the next one.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

is Petme a website or an app

Both, with different jobs. You can read sitter profiles and city pages on the website, while messaging, booking and cashback all happen in the iOS and Android app. That keeps every message and every payment on one record you can go back to later.

are sitters in Utrecht actually checked

Yes. Every sitter passes identity verification and a background check before their profile goes live. On top of that you get a free meet and greet, so you can see how the sitter is with your pet and ask about their experience before you hand over a key.

can a sitter give my dog medication

Many sitters can, and it is worth asking in your first message. Write down the doses and the timings, then go through them at the meet and greet so nothing depends on memory. Sitters who have done it before usually say so on their profile.

what if I have to cancel my trip

Each sitter sets their own cancellation policy, and it is shown on their profile before you book. Read it while you are comparing sitters, because the terms differ from one person to the next. If your dates are likely to move, it is worth raising at the meet and greet too.

do I have to be in the same neighbourhood as the sitter

No, but it usually helps. A sitter who lives near you in Utrecht means a shorter handover, easier drop-ins and walks on streets your dog already knows. Profiles show where the sitter is based, so you can start with the ones closest to your address and widen out if you need to.

what does a pet sitter cost in Utrecht

Sitters set their own rates, and in Utrecht boarding usually falls between 25 and 50 euro a night while drop-in visits run about 12 to 22 euro. The rate you see on the profile is the amount you pay, because owners pay no service fee on Petme. Cashback is credited to your balance after the booking finishes.
