em_lovesdogsI feed my dog off a fork. There, I said it. šŸ˜‚ And honestly? It’s one of the many ā€œrulesā€ I break as a dog parent — on purpose. Because here’s the thing: Our relationships with our dogs don’t have to look like anyone else’s. Some people follow strict obedience charts. Some use only structured meals. Some never share a bite of anything. Some (hi, it’s me šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø) hand their dog a forkful of food because it makes both of us laugh. And you know what? It’s all fine. It’s better than fine — it’s connection. Here are a few more ā€œrulesā€ I happily break: šŸ½ļø Letting my dog lick the spoon šŸ›‹ļø Saving a spot for them on the couch šŸ›ļø Letting them hog the bed šŸ“· Using my ā€œseriousā€ filming equipment to capture the chaos 🐾 Talking to them like they’re tiny, judgmental coworkers None of these things ruin training. None of these things cause ā€œbad behavior.ā€ What they do is strengthen the bond — the real, everyday relationship that actually shapes behavior. Because dogs don’t need perfection. They need partnership, safety, joy, and the little rituals that remind them they belong. So if you break a few ā€œrulesā€ too? You’re in good company here. What’s one silly thing you do for your dog that you’ll never apologize for?
