The legend of the black and white cats Legend has it that there was a black cat that her owner took with him everywhere. He walked with her, shared his food with her, slept next to her, talked to her, they were always together and she adored him. Everything was perfect in the cat's life, until one day her owner decided to go to sea. He then asked his mother to take care of the animal until he returned. The old woman locked the cat in the barn so it wouldn't follow her son to the port. The poor little animal meowed for weeks waiting for its owner until, one morning, a neighbor brought sad news to its mother: during a storm, a wave had swallowed her son. The woman burst into tears and the frightened cat ran away from the house. He ran to the beach, but did not find his master. Then he began walking along the coast looking for it. A lot of time passed; the cat was thin and tired and could no longer continue. He arrived in the north of the country, looked out onto the cliff and said to the ocean: "Take me to him at the bottom of your abyss, I give you my soul because without him, there is no place for me in this world." A gigantic wave emerged taking with it the animal who closed his eyes and let himself be dragged by the ocean. She woke up in the arms of a man who was drying her tenderly. The cat opened her huge eyes and looked at him. Looking into those eyes, many memories came back to the man. "My old friend, you came for me... I didn't remember anything until I saw my life in your big yellow eyes. What were you doing in the sea? I know it's you, but your hair is different, you were black as the Night." A deep voice from the ocean told him: "She offered me her soul to be able to return with you, but I cannot deprive the world of such a noble soul. In exchange she will carry in her fur my memory, the foam of the sea and from now on, she and her descendants, they will bring harmony and joy to every house they live in." Since then, black and white cats have existed because they carry the legacy of yellow eyes and the gift of bringing harmony and joy to those who share their lives. - Author unknown
