lou_fisherMake some distilled rose water from the garden with me. 🌹 I love DIY projects, especially if I can use ingredients from my garden. I am lucky enough to have roses year round and keep around 10 rose bushes. My roses are all grown organically with love, so making rose water with them feels extra special! 💗 To make it safe for consumption rose water needs to be made by distillation – this is the process of evaporating the water and then condensing it back to liquid. Then the distilled rose water will have all its impurities removed while keeping the floral aroma and taste of the roses. 💦 1️⃣ Pick at least 3 cups of rose petals from your garden (make sure they are pesticide free). 2️⃣ Rinse the petals and put them in a large pot, arranged around a smaller, empty pot in the middle. 3️⃣ Boil 3 cups of filtered water and add it to the rose petals (don’t get any in the small pot). 4️⃣ Put an upside-down lid over the top of the large pot and simmer the petals on low. 5️⃣ Put handfuls of ice on top of the lid, and when it all melts, soak it up with a cloth, wring it out, and put more ice. Repeat this process until the water in the petals is all evaporated (20-30 mins). It will drip off the upside-down lid and into the small pot. This is your finished product! Add it to a spray bottle once it is cooled, and store in a dark, cool place. My favorite way to use rose water is as a face and body spray. It smells amazing! 🌸
