First step to playing this game is to teach your dog separate marker words. These are words you say to release your dog to a reward and we can teach them where the reward is coming from by using different words. For example I use “yes” for a reward from me. “Get it” is for get the reward on the floor. You can teach these separately while playing with your dog to begin with. Once they have them down separately you can start to challenge your dogs listening skills by using them in the same session. I ask Zen for “out” followed by a reward marker either “yes” or “get it”. I still help her a bit with my body language because her listening skills are still getting their around toys. I also sprinkle in some obedience work to make her really think 🧠
