A local edge

Local know-how pays off in Interlaken

Boarding demand in Interlaken peaks sharply in summer and winter when visitors and second-home owners travel, while local families sustain daycare and walks year-round. Rates here run among the highest in Switzerland.

When demand peaks

Boarding and daycare demand peaks in the summer and winter holiday seasons, when both visitors and locals travel. Book your availability early to catch the season.

Know your Interlaken pickup areas

Daycare requests come from Interlaken West and Ost, Unterseen, Matten and Wilderswil, with occasional days from Bönigen and Ringgenberg. Distances are short but the valley funnels traffic, so owners look for a host on their own side of the Aare and near the road they already take to work.

Breeds you will meet in Interlaken

Owners here mostly keep Bernese Mountain Dogs, Labradors, Border Collies, French Bulldogs. Knowing how those breeds behave, and saying so on your profile, is what turns a first booking into a repeat client.

Daycare in Interlaken

Daycare in a valley that works in seasons

Between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz the working year has two busy peaks and two quiet stretches, and daycare follows them. In summer and through the ski months the hotels, the guiding companies and the restaurants around Interlaken West and Ost run long days, and owners look for someone to take a dog from morning until the shift ends. Unterseen, Matten and Wilderswil send local requests through the rest of the year. A hosted day here is outdoors more than indoors: the Höhematte, the Aare between the two lakes, and the lower paths towards Habkern and Bönigen. Hosts who are comfortable with active dogs and long walks get asked first, because many dogs in this valley are built for exactly that.

Common questions

Doggy Daycare Jobs in Interlaken

What new sitters ask before signing up on Petme in Interlaken.

How much do doggy daycare hosts earn per day in Interlaken?
Doggy daycare on Petme in Interlaken runs CHF 60 to CHF 95 per day. You set your own day rate and headcount, and you keep up to 90% of every booking.
Do I need a yard or a commercial space for daycare in Interlaken?
No. Many Petme hosts run daycare from a home or an apartment with regular walk breaks, from Interlaken West to Interlaken Ost. You set how many dogs you accept at once and whether your space suits high-energy or large breeds.
Can I set my own daycare schedule and headcount in Interlaken?
Yes. You choose your days, your hours, and how many dogs you host at a time, and you accept or decline each request. No assigned shifts and no minimum hours, whether owners come from Interlaken West or Interlaken Ost.
What protection comes with daycare bookings?
Every confirmed Petme booking, including doggy daycare, includes CHF 20,000 in Protection Plan for the dog in your care, at no cost to you or the owner. The same cover applies across Interlaken West and Interlaken Ost.
What does a doggy daycare day involve?
Owners drop off in the morning and pick up after work. You provide a safe space, supervised play, water, rest time, and photo updates through the day. Most Interlaken hosts take a small group they can manage comfortably.
What does a winter daycare day look like in Interlaken?
Mostly indoors, in shorter bursts. A Interlaken winter day runs on indoor play and rest with brief outdoor breaks inside the daylight window, towels by the door, and grit wiped off paws after every trip out. Daycare follows the working week, so it holds steady all year and picks back up each January once commuters are back at their desks.
Is there daycare work in Interlaken outside the tourist season?
Yes, though the shape of it changes. Summer and the ski months bring long days from people working in hotels, guiding and hospitality, while spring and late autumn are mostly local families booking one or two fixed days. You can open and close your calendar with the season, so a quiet month costs you nothing.
Which languages do owners in the Interlaken region use?
German in writing and Swiss German in person, with a good amount of English because so much local work is in tourism. Put your languages on your profile. If you work in English only, the seasonal hospitality households are where most of your requests will come from.
Am I working for Petme when I host daycare in Interlaken?
No. You are self-employed and each booking is an arrangement between you and the owner, which is why you set the rate and the days. If you are living in the Bernese Oberland as a foreign resident or a student, check with your cantonal authority what independent side income your situation allows.
