A local edge

Local know-how pays off in Lausanne

Lausanne owners book overnight boarding and daytime daycare around work trips and holidays. Sitters who can host from a home or apartment near a park stay busy through the year.

When demand peaks

Boarding fills up around school holidays and business-travel periods, while daycare runs steadily through the working week.

Know your Lausanne pickup areas

Daycare bookings arrive from two directions: the lakeside quarters around Ouchy and Sous-Gare, and the western belt of Renens, Prilly and Malley near the campuses. Name your nearest metro or train stop in your profile. Owners here measure the detour in minutes on the m2, not in kilometres.

Breeds you will meet in Lausanne

Owners here mostly keep Bernese Mountain Dogs, Labradors, Border Collies, French Bulldogs. Knowing how those breeds behave, and saying so on your profile, is what turns a first booking into a repeat client.

Bilingual owners book faster

Lausanne mixes francophone locals with EPFL and IOC international staff. Sitters comfortable in both French and English fill their schedules faster.

Daycare in Lausanne

A daycare day on a city built on a slope

Lausanne climbs from the lake to the forest, and that gradient decides a lot about daycare here. Owners near Ouchy, Sous-Gare and Montchoisi take the m2 up towards their office, so a host near a metro stop is worth more to them than a bigger flat further out. Dogs that spend the day with you get the Ouchy quays or the Bois de Sauvabelin rather than a garden, which suits nearly every request that comes in. Renens, Prilly and Malley bring a different set of owners, many of them working at the campuses west of the city, and their weeks are fixed enough to book the same days all term. Pully and Chailly add families looking for one regular day.

Common questions

Doggy Daycare Jobs in Lausanne

What new sitters ask before signing up on Petme in Lausanne.

How much do doggy daycare hosts earn per day in Lausanne?
Doggy daycare on Petme in Lausanne runs CHF 50 to CHF 80 per day. You set your own day rate and headcount, and you keep up to 90% of every booking.
What protection comes with daycare bookings?
The Petme Protection Plan offers up to CHF 20,000 for eligible vet costs for the dog in your care, subject to its terms. The same terms apply across Ouchy and Chailly.
What does a doggy daycare day involve?
Owners drop off in the morning and pick up after work. You provide a safe space, supervised play, water, rest time, and photo updates through the day. Most Lausanne hosts take a small group they can manage comfortably.
Do I need a yard or a commercial space for daycare in Lausanne?
No. Many Petme hosts run daycare from a home or an apartment with regular walk breaks, from Ouchy to Chailly. You set how many dogs you accept at once and whether your space suits high-energy or large breeds.
Can I set my own daycare schedule and headcount in Lausanne?
Yes. You choose your days, your hours, and how many dogs you host at a time, and you accept or decline each request. No assigned shifts and no minimum hours, whether owners come from Ouchy or Chailly.
What does a winter daycare day look like in Lausanne?
Mostly indoors, in shorter bursts. A Lausanne winter day runs on indoor play and rest with brief outdoor breaks inside the daylight window, towels by the door, and grit wiped off paws after every trip out. Daycare follows the working week, so it holds steady all year and picks back up each January once commuters are back at their desks.
Is doggy daycare realistic as part-time work in Lausanne?
Yes, and the student calendar is part of why it works here. You open only the days you can cover, so a host can run two weekdays during term and more between semesters. You set your own day rate, choose how many dogs you take, and decline anything that clashes. There are no shifts and no minimum hours.
Do Lausanne owners message in French or English?
French first, but a good share of requests arrive in English, especially from international staff around the campuses and the sports federations. Write both on your profile if you work in both. The handover takes two minutes in person and everything else is agreed in the booking chat beforehand.
Does daycare work in Lausanne count as employment?
No. It is self-employed work arranged directly between you and the owner, which is why the rate and the schedule are yours to set. If you live in Lausanne as a foreign resident or a student, check with your cantonal authority what independent side income your situation allows before your first booking.
