A local edge

Local know-how pays off in Winterthur

Winterthur owners book overnight boarding and daytime daycare around work trips and holidays. Sitters who can host from a home or apartment near a park stay busy through the year.

When demand peaks

Boarding fills up around school holidays and business-travel periods, while daycare runs steadily through the working week.

Know your Winterthur pickup areas

Töss, Veltheim, Seen and Oberwinterthur produce most of the daycare requests, with Wülflingen and Dättnau close behind. What matters is whether the owner can hand the dog over and still catch their train, so list the station or bus stop nearest your door rather than the districts you would drive to.

Breeds you will meet in Winterthur

Owners here mostly keep Bernese Mountain Dogs, Labradors, Border Collies, French Bulldogs. Knowing how those breeds behave, and saying so on your profile, is what turns a first booking into a repeat client.

Daycare in Winterthur

Covering the Zurich commute from Winterthur

Winterthur sends a large part of its working population down the line to Zurich every morning, and a train journey at both ends stretches the day well beyond office hours. That is the gap daycare fills here. Requests cluster in Töss, Veltheim, Seen and Oberwinterthur, and the owners asking tend to want fixed weekdays rather than occasional cover. The city helps: the Eschenberg, the Lindberg and the Töss riverside start close to most quarters, so a midday walk needs no car. Hosts in Wülflingen and Dättnau sit near woodland and often take the bigger, higher-energy dogs, while the flats around Neuwiesen and the Altstadt mostly send small and medium dogs who do well on three shorter rounds.

Common questions

Doggy Daycare Jobs in Winterthur

What new sitters ask before signing up on Petme in Winterthur.

How much do doggy daycare hosts earn per day in Winterthur?
Doggy daycare on Petme in Winterthur runs CHF 40 to CHF 70 per day. You set your own day rate and headcount, and you keep up to 90% of every booking.
What does a doggy daycare day involve?
Owners drop off in the morning and pick up after work. You provide a safe space, supervised play, water, rest time, and photo updates through the day. Most Winterthur hosts take a small group they can manage comfortably.
Do I need a yard or a commercial space for daycare in Winterthur?
No. Many Petme hosts run daycare from a home or an apartment with regular walk breaks, from Altstadt to Toess. You set how many dogs you accept at once and whether your space suits high-energy or large breeds.
Can I set my own daycare schedule and headcount in Winterthur?
Yes. You choose your days, your hours, and how many dogs you host at a time, and you accept or decline each request. No assigned shifts and no minimum hours, whether owners come from Altstadt or Toess.
What protection comes with daycare bookings?
The Petme Protection Plan offers up to CHF 20,000 for eligible vet costs for the dog in your care, subject to its terms. The same terms apply across Altstadt and Toess.
What does a winter daycare day look like in Winterthur?
Mostly indoors, in shorter bursts. A Winterthur winter day runs on indoor play and rest with brief outdoor breaks inside the daylight window, towels by the door, and grit wiped off paws after every trip out. Daycare follows the working week, so it holds steady all year and picks back up each January once commuters are back at their desks.
Can doggy daycare be a part-time job in Winterthur?
Yes. You decide the weekdays you open and how many dogs you take, so it fits a reduced week or a study timetable. Winterthur owners mostly book the same days every week, which means a small number of regular clients can fill a fixed part of your schedule without any surprises.
Do I need German for daycare bookings in Winterthur?
Most owners here write in German and speak Swiss German at the door, so some German makes the day easier. It is not a barrier if you are still learning. State your languages on your profile, keep the written chat clear, and agree feeding, walks and pick-up time before the first day.
