A local edge

Local know-how pays off in Greenwich

Greenwich has a wet maritime climate with rain spread across the year, frosty spells in winter, and short winter days that leave a narrow window of daylight. Walkers who carry a raincoat and a towel, plan sheltered routes on the wettest days, and hold their slots through the drizzle keep the regulars that fair-weather walkers lose.

When owners travel

Demand peaks over the summer holidays and across Christmas and New Year, with a second wave on the February, May and October half-terms and the bank-holiday weekends. Boarding and house sitting lead when owners travel; walking, daycare and drop-in visits carry the commuting week.

Know your Greenwich areas

Most cat bookings cluster Woolwich to Plumstead. Owners book the sitter who can reach them quickly for a daily visit, so the areas you list matter more than the distance you are willing to travel.

Common questions

Cat Sitting Jobs in Greenwich

What new sitters ask before signing up on Petme in Greenwich.

How much do cat sitters earn per visit in Greenwich?
Drop-in cat visits on Petme in Greenwich run £15 to £25 per 20 to 30 minute visit. You set your own rate per visit, and you keep up to 90% of every booking.
Where is cat sitting demand strongest in Greenwich?
Thamesmead is SE28 and Kidbrooke is SE3. Most cat owners book a sitter within their own neighborhood, so listing the areas you cover sharpens your visibility.
What does a typical cat sitting visit involve?
A standard drop-in runs 20 to 30 minutes: feeding, fresh water, litter scooping, playtime, and a photo update to the owner in chat. Many Greenwich owners book one or two visits a day while they travel.
Can I set my own visit schedule in Greenwich?
Yes. You set your available hours and accept or decline each request. Morning and evening visit slots fill first, and you can stack several nearby visits around Woolwich and Eltham into one efficient round.
What protection do I get on cat sitting bookings?
The Petme Protection Plan offers up to £20,000 for eligible vet costs for the cat in your care, subject to its terms. The same terms apply whether you sit in Woolwich or Eltham.
What should I check on a winter cat visit in Greenwich?
Check the home as well as the cat. On a Greenwich winter visit that means confirming the heating is still on, topping up water that sits near a draughty window, keeping the litter and feeding routine exactly as the owner left it, and flagging anything odd straight away. Owners travelling over Christmas rebook the sitters who notice the house too.
Are there cat sitting jobs in Greenwich?
Yes. You can offer drop-in cat visits in Greenwich as a self-employed Petme sitter. Woolwich and Eltham are districts you can name, and you accept or decline each request.
Do cat visits in Greenwich need a home boarding licence?
No. A drop-in is not boarding. The cat stays in its own home in Greenwich. Regular overnight dog boarding is licensed by Royal Borough of Greenwich under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018.
