Methodology
Where these prices come from
Based on public rates from 44 independent pet-care businesses and one national pet-sitting marketplace across 17 US metros, fetched October 26, 2026, cross-checked against a 2026 national pet-sitter industry survey.
30-minute dog walk: independent businesses charge $22 to $32 (10th to 90th percentile of 34 rates) and the marketplace lists $15 to $26 (260 listed rates). The overlap is $22 to $26; the range seen is $15 to $32. The industry survey puts the 2026 national average for a 30-minute walk at $28.43.
Each source gives its own band, the 10th to the 90th percentile of its rates. The price we publish is where the two bands overlap; the range seen is everything between the lowest and the highest of them. The marketplace shows "from" prices without its 11% booking fee, so its rates run below what businesses charge.
Sample: 34 business rates and 260 marketplace listed rates, fetched October 26, 2026.

Six things that change what you pay.
The $22 to $26 band is the starting point for a fair quote. These are the reasons a walker’s number sits above or below it.
Walk length
The $22 to $26 band is for a 30-minute walk. Longer walks cost more, and the sitter sets the rate for them on the profile.
Number of dogs
The band is for one dog. A second dog from the same home usually adds a little. Our sources give no reliable figure for it, so agree it before the first walk.
Solo or group walk
A solo walk is one dog, one walker. Group walks share the walker’s time across dogs from different homes. Ask which one you are booking.
Holidays and short notice
Holiday weeks and same-day requests are the slots walkers fill last, and many quote a higher rate for them. You see the rate before you confirm.
Platform fees on top
Typical platforms add a service fee for the owner at checkout. Petme charges pet owners 0% at checkout, so the rate on the walker’s profile is the total you pay.
Petme cashback
Cashback on every completed Petme booking lands in your wallet automatically. It lowers the effective cost of a standing weekday walk.
