I've spent years raising a super high-energy, reactive husky mix, and volunteering in shelters, so I'm used to handling 'spicy' cats and anxious dogs with a lot of patience.

About Roxbury

Doggy daycare in Roxbury, what it actually looks like

Roxbury is Boston's historic Black neighborhood, anchored by Nubian Square (formerly Dudley Square) and Franklin Park's 527 acres on the southern edge. Triple-decker housing dominates between Warren Street and Blue Hill Avenue; brownstones cluster in Fort Hill and along Roxbury Heritage State Park. Northeastern University's campus sits at the northern edge, which threads university-driven cat-sitting demand through Mission Hill into upper Roxbury.

Roxbury sitters skew long-tenure with deep neighborhood roots. The breed mix is rescue-heavy and pit-mix-heavy, reflecting the local shelter pipeline (Animal Rescue League of Boston, MSPCA). Franklin Park's off-leash hours (typically dawn to 9am on the meadow side) and the Arboretum 10 minutes south define the daily walking rhythm. Many sitters speak Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Cape Verdean Creole, mirroring the neighborhood's diversity. Pricing is among the lowest in Boston.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about doggy daycare in Roxbury

How much does pet sitting in Roxbury cost?

Boarding $50 to $75 per night, walks $20 to $30 per 30 minutes. Roxbury tracks Dorchester and Allston-Brighton at the lower end of Boston's pricing band, which makes it useful for medium-to-large breeds needing yard space.

Where do Roxbury sitters walk dogs?

Franklin Park's meadow side during posted off-leash hours, the Emerald Necklace connector trails into Jamaica Pond, Malcolm X Park for shorter loops, and Roxbury Heritage State Park's shaded paths. Many sitters drive 8 minutes to Pope John Paul II Park in Dorchester for the Neponset River loop.

Can I find a Roxbury sitter near Northeastern University?

Yes, particularly in upper Roxbury and Mission Hill where Northeastern graduate students cluster. Cat-sitting demand spikes around finals weeks (early December, early May) and summer-internship travel; book 2 to 3 weeks ahead.

Are Roxbury sitters good with rescue and reactive dogs?

Yes, deeply experienced. Many own rescues themselves and volunteer with ARL Boston or MSPCA. Filter for "reactive-experienced" in search; solo-only bookings are the default for reactive dogs and standard practice for the neighborhood.

How much does doggy daycare in Roxbury cost?

Full-day daycare runs $35 to $56 per day in Roxbury. Half-day rates run roughly 60% of the full-day rate. Petme charges 0% owner fee on top.

What hours does Roxbury daycare cover?

Typical drop-off windows run 7 to 9am and pick-up 5 to 7pm. Some hosts accept earlier drop-offs (commuter-aware) or later pickups for an additional fee. Confirm at the meet-and-greet.

Is Roxbury daycare yard-equipped or apartment-only?

Mix of both. Residential, lower-density areas more often have yards. Condo-area hosts cover daycare without a yard by running 3 to 4 walks during the day.

Can I drop off recurring 3 days a week?

Yes, the most common daycare pattern across Roxbury for hybrid-RTO owners. Recurring 3+ days a week typically gets a small per-day discount; confirm at the meet-and-greet.
