Cat care tips for Sofia

Local advice for happy cats in the Bulgarian capital

Cold Sofia winters

Sofia winters are cold with temperatures well below zero. Make sure the sitter keeps the home warm and provides cosy resting spots. Cats used to balconies may prefer to stay indoors.

Summer and open windows

In summer many windows and balconies are left open. Make sure the sitter has safety nets on windows to prevent your cat from falling.

Stress from changing environments

Cats are attached to their territory. For sensitive cats, prefer in-home sitting over boarding to avoid stress from an unfamiliar environment.

Urban hazards

Sofia streets are busy with cars and trams. Cats should be kept indoors, especially in central neighbourhoods. Balconies without nets are a risk factor.
