A local edge

Local know-how pays off in Bochum

Bochum is a student city in the middle of the Ruhr, and around Ehrenfeld and Querenburg plenty of households empty out over the semester breaks. House sitting fits that timetable: you cover the nights, and the days stay your own.

When demand peaks

Summer holidays, Christmas and the semester breaks are the strongest weeks, when students and families leave town.

Know your Bochum areas

Most house sitting bookings cluster in Ehrenfeld, Weitmar and Querenburg. You stay in the owner's home, so the districts you list decide which stays are practical around your own working day, not how far you are willing to travel.

Breeds you will meet in Bochum

Owners here mostly keep Mixed breed, Labrador, German Shepherd. Knowing how those breeds behave, and saying so on your profile, is what turns a first booking into a repeat client.

Bochum areas that book the most

Petme house sitting bookings in Bochum come from neighborhoods like Innenstadt, Ehrenfeld, Langendreer. Owners book a sitter to stay at their home overnight while they travel, so the pets keep their own routine and the house stays occupied.

In Germany, anyone who cares for other people's pets for regular pay registers a small trade (Gewerbe) and declares the income on their tax return. House sitting happens in the owner's own home, so agree keys, access and the daily routine with them in writing before the first night.

Common questions

House Sitting Jobs in Bochum

What new sitters ask before signing up on Petme in Bochum.

How much do house sitters earn per night in Bochum?
House sitting on Petme in Bochum runs €32 to €55 per night. You set your own nightly rate, and you keep up to 90% of every booking.
Can I choose which house sitting jobs I accept in Bochum?
Yes. You review each home and pet, arrange a meet first if you want, and accept or decline. You set your nightly rate and your available dates, whether the home is in Innenstadt or Ehrenfeld. No assigned bookings and no minimum nights.
What protection comes with house sitting bookings?
The Petme Protection Plan offers up to €20,000 for eligible vet costs for the pet in your care, subject to its terms. The same terms apply whether you stay in Innenstadt or Ehrenfeld.
What does house sitting involve?
You stay in the owner's home and keep their pet's routine: feeding, walks, play, and company overnight, plus basics like mail and plants if asked. Owners book it so their pet stays in familiar surroundings while they travel.
How is house sitting different from boarding in Bochum?
With house sitting you go to the owner's home; with boarding the pet comes to you. House sitting suits pets that do better in their own space, and it is billed per night the same way.
How do I keep walking dogs through a Bochum winter with so little daylight?
Winter is one of the busiest stretches, not a pause. In Bochum that means fitting what you can inside the daylight window and using a light and a reflective harness for the rest, gripped soles on gritted pavements, shorter routes for small or short-coated dogs on the coldest days, and wiping grit and road salt off paws before handover. Owners see who is still turning up in February, and those are the walkers they rebook.
