Caring for your dog in Athens
Athens-specific tips every dog owner should know
Summer Heat
Athens summers regularly exceed 35°C. Walk your dog early morning or after sunset and always carry water. Hot pavement can burn paws.
Marble Streets
The historic Plaka and Monastiraki areas have smooth marble paving. Keep your dog on lead on steep, slippery sections.
Hydration
Public water fountains are scattered around the city. Many cafes will offer a bowl of water for visiting dogs.
Dog-Friendly Culture
Athens is very welcoming to dogs. Most tavernas with outdoor seating happily accommodate well-behaved dogs.
Mild Winters
Athens winters are mild but rainy. A waterproof coat helps on damp days, and shorter walks may be needed during downpours.

Common questions about dog sitting in Athens
Everything you need to know before booking a dog sitter
Can I get paid to look after pets in Athens?
Yes. Pet care on Petme is paid work you run yourself in Athens. You set your own rate per service, take only the bookings that fit your week, and payment runs through the app to your bank account.
Can I book something other than dog sitting in Athens?
There is more available. Alongside dog sitting, the other kinds of care are offered in Athens, and often by the same sitter, so your pet can stay with someone they already know instead of starting over.
How much do dog sitters in Athens charge?
Athens dog sitters on Petme typically charge between €15 and €35 per night for boarding, and €8 to €18 per walk. Prices vary based on services, dog size, and sitter experience.
Are Athens dog sitters on Petme verified?
Yes. All Athens sitters undergo ID verification, and most have reviews from local dog owners.
Can I find a dog walker near the National Garden?
Absolutely. Many Petme sitters in Plaka, Kolonaki, and Pangrati regularly walk dogs in the National Garden and Filopappou Hill.
What if my dog needs medication during boarding?
You can note medication schedules in your booking request. Athens sitters experienced with medical needs are clearly flagged on their profiles.
Is there a meet-and-greet before booking?
Yes. You can arrange a free meet-and-greet with any Athens sitter before confirming your booking.
