Dog walking in Fleur-de-Lys
Fleur-de-Lys is the modern residential side of Birkirkara, with apartment blocks built up since the 1980s and a steady mix of young families and longer-tenured Maltese residents. Pet households here are mostly indoor cats and small-to-medium dogs in apartments with limited outdoor access. Drop-in visits and weekday recurring walks dominate.

Frequently asked
Questions from Fleur-de-Lys owners
Are there green spaces in Fleur-de-Lys?
Some. The local pocket parks and the proximity to the Wied il-Qlejgħa valley give Fleur-de-Lys sitters a decent set of walking options away from the busy main roads.
How does the sitter handle apartment access?
Modern Fleur-de-Lys blocks use key fobs or codes. Hand over access at the meet-and-greet so the sitter is set before the first visit.
Is the area quieter than Mrieħel?
Yes. Fleur-de-Lys is mostly residential, with significantly less commercial traffic than the Mrieħel business district nearby.
How do sitters handle the summer heat in Fleur-de-Lys?
By moving the day around it. Walks go early in the morning and again after sunset, pavements get checked with a hand before a dog is taken out on them, and the middle of the day is for shade, water and quiet indoors. Agree the timings with your Birkirkara sitter when you book, and say so if your dog is a flat-faced breed or an older one that struggles in the heat.
What do I need to have in order before booking in Fleur-de-Lys?
Your dog should be microchipped and on the national register, which is required in Malta under the Electronic Identification of Dogs Regulations. Beyond that, give your Fleur-de-Lys sitter the vet you use, the feeding routine, and a note of how your dog behaves with other dogs on a narrow street, which comes up more in Birkirkara than in most places.
What does Petme cover in Fleur-de-Lys?
Verified pet sitters offering boarding, in-home sitting, drop-in visits and dog walks across Fleur-de-Lys. The Protection Plan can contribute up to €20,000 toward eligible vet costs.
Is there a booking fee?
No. Petme charges 0% to pet owners. The rate on the sitter's profile is exactly what you pay at checkout.
