Frequently asked
Questions from St George's Bay owners
Can dogs go on St George's Bay beach?
Only outside the bathing season (October to April). During summer the beach is restricted to bathers; sitters use the inland streets or the Pembroke garigue instead.
Is the area too noisy for an anxious cat?
The beach and resort area can be loud, but the residential streets a block inland are quiet. Most sitters check the block conditions at the meet-and-greet.
Are there sitters in the Mercury Tower area?
Yes. The Mercury Tower and surrounding blocks have a deep sitter pool because of the high turnover of short-let renters and resort residents.
How do sitters handle the summer heat in St George's Bay?
By moving the day around it. Walks go early in the morning and again after sunset, pavements get checked with a hand before a dog is taken out on them, and the middle of the day is for shade, water and quiet indoors. Agree the timings with your St Julians sitter when you book, and say so if your dog is a flat-faced breed or an older one that struggles in the heat.
What do I need to have in order before booking in St George's Bay?
Your dog should be microchipped and on the national register, which is required in Malta under the Electronic Identification of Dogs Regulations. Beyond that, give your St George's Bay sitter the vet you use, the feeding routine, and a note of how your dog behaves with other dogs on a narrow street, which comes up more in St Julians than in most places.
What does Petme cover in St George's Bay?
Verified pet sitters offering boarding, in-home sitting, drop-in visits and dog walks across St George's Bay. The Protection Plan can contribute up to €20,000 toward eligible vet costs.
Is there a booking fee?
No. Petme charges 0% to pet owners. The rate on the sitter's profile is exactly what you pay at checkout.
