A local edge

Local know-how pays off in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale runs hot and humid most of the year, with a wet season from May through October that brings near-daily afternoon storms. Sitters shift walks to early morning and after sunset to keep paws off scorching pavement and dodge the rain.

When demand peaks

Demand spikes in winter (December through March) when snowbirds and tourists fill the beach, and again over the summer holidays, with boarding and drop-in visits leading as owners travel.

Know your Fort Lauderdale areas

Most cat bookings cluster Las Olas Isles to Imperial Point. Owners book the sitter who can reach them quickly for a daily visit, so the areas you list matter more than the distance you are willing to travel.

Bilingual owners book faster

Broward County has a large Spanish-speaking and Caribbean owner base, so sitters who speak Spanish or Haitian Creole pick up extra bookings.

Fort Lauderdale areas that book the most

Petme cat bookings in Fort Lauderdale come from neighborhoods like Las Olas Isles, Victoria Park, Rio Vista, with drop-in visits and house sitting the most requested for cats.

Florida does not license pet sitters or dog walkers at the state level; you operate as a sole proprietor and report self-employment income on Schedule C. Broward County requires dogs to be leashed in public, and most income from walks, sits, and boarding is reportable to the IRS.
