A local edge

Local know-how pays off in Gainesville

Gainesville has a humid subtropical climate with long, hot summers where July highs hover around 91 degrees and afternoon thunderstorms roll in almost daily from June through September. Sitters walk dogs early morning or after the storms pass, keep summer outings short to avoid heat exhaustion on the humid pavement, and shift to easy midday walks through the mild winters.

When demand peaks

Demand tracks the University of Florida and Santa Fe College calendar, with heavy turnover on move-in and move-out weekends, plus football Saturdays in the fall when owners need daytime coverage. Boarding and house sitting lead over winter-break and summer travel, while dog walking and drop-in visits stay steady year-round for UF, UF Health Shands, and VA hospital staff working long shifts.

Know your Gainesville areas

Most bookings cluster Duckpond to Haile Plantation. Owners look for sitters who know the area and can reach them without a long trip.

Breeds you will meet in Gainesville

Owners here mostly keep Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, French Bulldog. Knowing how those breeds behave, and saying so on your profile, is what turns a first booking into a repeat client.
