A local edge
Local know-how pays off in Fort Collins
Fort Collins runs a cold semi-arid climate at the foot of the Front Range: about 51 inches of snow a year but only around 16 inches of total precipitation, so the air is dry and the sun is strong. Winter snow tends to melt off within days, which keeps the Poudre and Spring Creek trails walkable most of the season. Summer afternoons are hot but low-humidity, and the standard adjustment is an early start rather than a shorter walk.
When demand peaks
Colorado State University sets the calendar: the academic year fills the Campus West and Old Town rental blocks, and August move-in and May move-out are the sharpest turnover weeks of the year. Outdoor-recreation travel drives summer boarding from June through August, with Thanksgiving and December holidays behind it.
Know your Fort Collins routes
Most bookings cluster Old Town to the Harmony corridor. Owners look for walkers who know the local parks and leash rules, and who can turn up on a regular schedule.
Breeds you will meet in Fort Collins
Owners here mostly keep Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, Australian Shepherd, German Shorthaired Pointer. Knowing how those breeds behave, and saying so on your profile, is what turns a first booking into a repeat client.
