With dogs barred from city parks under Section 10-2, Lynwood walks follow the sidewalks, and pavement heat decides the hour. Hawthorne airport, the nearest NOAA normals station at 7.8 miles west, averages 63 days a year at 80 degrees or more. August carries 10.7 of them and September 10.4, so the midday walk moves to early morning. Rain is rare, about eight wet days across January and February.
Many Lynwood owners are out the door before dawn. The census counts 6,826 of 26,301 commuters leaving home before 6 a.m., and 2,776 more between 7:00 and 7:29. The most common trip to work takes 30 to 34 minutes, for 5,881 people. Only 1,124 of the city's 27,425 workers work from home.
Lynwood Southwest is 85.8 percent renter-occupied, mostly apartment complexes and small apartment buildings. There, 82.3 percent of homes have two bedrooms or fewer. City Center also leans rented, with apartment complexes among its houses. Ricardo Lara Linear Park runs a mile along Fernwood Avenue beside the 105, with a fenced dog park.

Plan on Spanish for handovers with many Lynwood owners. The census counts 20,959 residents aged five and up who speak Spanish and speak English less than very well. That is one in three of that age group. In all, 46,898 speak Spanish at home, and 13,493 speak only English.
Lynwood's code caps a leash at six feet, held by someone who controls the dog (8-1.1). Off the owner's property, Section 8-1.22 accepts a lead of up to eight feet. Section 8-1.20 makes it unlawful for a walker to leave a dog's waste on public ground or another person's property. The Ricardo Lara Linear Park dog park has 1,700 square feet for large dogs and 600 for small.
You meet the owner and the dog, agree the pickup time and the route, and check the harness, the leash and whether the dog pulls or reacts to other dogs. In Lynwood that meet-and-greet is where most repeat clients are won.
Leash on, waste bagged, water offered on longer loops, and a check of the pavement before you head out on a hot afternoon. Owners want to know the dog was walked, not driven around a parking lot for twenty minutes.
Paws wiped, water topped up, the dog settled inside and the door locked as you found it. Then a photo and a line about how it went. That message is what turns one booking into a standing weekly slot.

California licenses no pet sitters or dog walkers. Under Section 8-1.22, a Lynwood dog off its owner's property needs a lead of eight feet or less. The lead has to be held by a responsible person. Section 8-1.11 allows three dogs and cats combined per house and one dog per apartment. Section 4-6.1 requires a city business license, and a home-based business also needs a home occupation permit (25-95-3). Pet-care pay is self-employment income, filed on Schedule C.
Owners read profiles the way they read reviews of a daycare. Four things get you the first booking.
A profile that says which Lynwood neighborhoods you cover beats one that says "anywhere". Owners search for someone close, and a short travel time is what makes a recurring walk work.
Owners want the same walker at the same time each day. Say which weekday windows you can hold, and you will be chosen over a walker with a wider but vaguer calendar.
Which breeds you have walked, whether you are fine with a strong puller or a reactive dog, and what you do when one dog will not walk. Specifics win. So does a photo of you with a dog.
