A local edge

Local know-how pays off in Aurora

Aurora runs a hot-summer humid continental climate: about 27.9 inches of snow across roughly 17 snowy days, a January average near 13 degrees and a July average near 84. January is the hard month, when walks get short and paw care after salted sidewalks becomes routine. The Fox River Trail is the year-round backbone route through the city.

When demand peaks

Metra commuter demand carries the workweek: Aurora is the terminus of the BNSF line into Chicago, so a large share of residents are away for long days, which is exactly when midday walks and drop-ins book. Summer travel, Thanksgiving and the December holidays carry boarding. More than 41% of residents are Hispanic or Latino, and extended-family travel adds long-stay bookings around the holidays.

Know your Aurora pickup areas

Most daycare bookings cluster Downtown Aurora to the Fox Valley. Owners drop off on the way to work and collect afterwards, so an easy run to your door matters more than how far you are willing to travel.

Breeds you will meet in Aurora

Owners here mostly keep Labrador Retriever, German Shepherd, French Bulldog, Chihuahua. Knowing how those breeds behave, and saying so on your profile, is what turns a first booking into a repeat client.

Illinois does not license pet sitters or dog walkers at state level, though commercial boarding kennels are licensed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
