Local know-how pays off in Springfield

Springfield runs about 40 days a year above 90 degrees and averages 13.7 inches of snow, with January daily averages near 34 degrees. Ozarks ice storms are the genuine winter hazard here, more than snow depth, and they are the days walks get shortened. The Galloway Creek Greenway and the Frisco Highline Trail carry most of the year-round walking.

When demand peaks

Healthcare is the weekday engine: CoxHealth and Mercy together employ over 21,000 people on shift patterns, which produces demand for walks and drop-ins outside standard office hours. Missouri State, Drury and Ozarks Technical terms drive student turnover, and Ozarks tourism brings roughly three million visitors a year, weighted to summer, which is also the heaviest boarding stretch.
