A local edge

Local know-how pays off in Tallahassee

Tallahassee runs hot and muggy from June through September, with afternoon thunderstorms most days and a heat index that pushes past 104 degrees. Sitters walk dogs early morning or after sunset in summer, keep outings short during storms, and watch flat-faced breeds like French Bulldogs closely in the humidity.

When demand peaks

Demand climbs around the Florida State and Florida A&M calendars, over the winter holidays, and during the summer legislative and travel stretch when owners leave town. Boarding and house sitting lead when families travel, while dog walking and drop-in visits carry the workweek for state workers and hospital staff.

Know your Tallahassee areas

Most cat bookings cluster Midtown to SouthWood. Owners book the sitter who can reach them quickly for a daily visit, so the areas you list matter more than the distance you are willing to travel.

Tallahassee areas that book the most

Petme cat bookings in Tallahassee come from neighborhoods like Downtown, Midtown, Myers Park, with drop-in visits and house sitting the most requested for cats.

Florida does not require a state pet-sitter or dog-walker license. Both the City of Tallahassee and Leon County enforce leash rules, so dogs must stay under the owner's direct control in public and off-leash only in designated dog parks like Tom Brown Park. A City of Tallahassee business license is the standard requirement for operating, and pet-care income is self-employment income reported on Schedule C against the platform's 1099.
