Las Vegas dog sitter rates, from convention weeks to the summer heat

October 13, 20267 min read
TL;DR: A dog sitter in Las Vegas costs $40 to $72 a night for boarding at the sitter's home and $18 to $28 for an hour-long walk, with a typical night around $56. Four nights away in July come to $160 to $288 in boarding, or $224 at the median. Two calendars decide how easy it is to book: the summer heat, when locals leave and air-conditioned homes are scarce, and the convention schedule, which runs all year. Platform data as of October 2026. Las Vegas is a city where the busy weeks for dog sitters do not line up with the busy weeks anywhere else. Locals travel to escape July, and the Strip fills with conventions in months when the rest of the country is quiet. Here is the year from a dog owner's side, then a full budget for a summer escape.

What Las Vegas dog sitters charge

Every sitter sets their own rate, so these are bands, not a fixed price list. You see the exact rate on the sitter's profile before you book.

ServiceLas Vegas rateUnit
Boarding (dog stays at the sitter's home)$40 - $72per night
Dog walking$18 - $28per hour
House sitting (sitter stays at yours)$50 - $100per night, national band
Drop-in visit$15 - $25per visit, national band

Summerlin sitters list at the top, $48 to $72 a night, in master-planned homes near the Red Rock trails. Green Valley and Southern Highlands run $45 to $66, Henderson and The Lakes or Spring Valley $42 to $64, and Downtown and Centennial Hills or North Las Vegas $40 to $60. The Las Vegas year for a dog owner

Sitters set their own prices, so the calendar does not raise a rate by itself. It decides how many good sitters still have room.

WhenWhat changes
JanuaryCES fills the city. In 2027 it runs January 6 to 9, according to the European Innovation Council's event listing. Owners who work it need long days of care
February to MayThe best walking weather of the year, and a steady stream of conventions
June to AugustLocals leave the heat. A boarding sitter with reliable air conditioning is the scarce part
September and OctoberStill hot early on, then easier. Convention season picks up again
Thanksgiving weekTravel out of the airport plus family visits
Christmas to New YearThe longest stays of the year, with sitters booking out weeks ahead

The convention calendar is the part people forget. If you work on the Strip, the weeks you need a sitter are the weeks the city is fullest, and they do not match school holidays. Book a regular sitter early for the shows you know are coming. The holiday pet sitting guide covers the winter weeks.

Four nights away in July, priced out

You leave the heat for a long weekend, Thursday to Monday, and your dog boards with a sitter. The middle row uses $56 a night, the Las Vegas median in Petme's own rate example for Summerlin.

Nightly rateSitter total (4 nights)Typical platform fee, 11% to 15%Total on a typical platformTotal on Petme
$40$160$17.60 - $24.00$177.60 - $184.00$160
$56$224$24.64 - $33.60$248.64 - $257.60$224
$72$288$31.68 - $43.20$319.68 - $331.20$288

A house sitter for the same four nights costs $200 to $400 on the national band, and a typical platform's fee would add $22 to $60. On Petme the owner booking fee is 0%, so the sitter's total is the bill, and Petme credits cashback after a completed booking.

What the heat changes

The walk moves. In a Las Vegas summer, a midday hour on the pavement is the wrong walk for any dog. Expect a sitter to walk at dawn and after dark and keep the dog inside the rest of the day. If your dog needs a lot of exercise, ask what indoor play they plan instead. The guide to dehydration and heat stroke in dogs lists the warning signs.

The house matters more than the neighborhood. In July, what you are really paying for at the top of the band is a cool house, shade and water within reach all day. Ask any boarding sitter how they keep the house cool, what happens if the air conditioning fails, and where your dog will spend the afternoon.

The car matters too. A short drive to a sitter in July is not short for a dog left in a parked car. Drop-off and pick-up should be door to door, with nothing left waiting in the vehicle.

Boarding or a sitter at home

Boarding at $40 to $72 is the cheaper option and suits a social dog. A house sitter at $50 to $100 keeps your dog in your own cool house and avoids a car trip in the heat, which for an older or short-nosed dog is often worth the difference.
