Condo pet sitting in Toronto

Tower-living pet care. Building access, concierge handoffs, and how Petme works with high-rise condos.

A growing share of Toronto pet owners live in condos, and that changes a few things about hiring a pet sitter or walker. Visitor passes, concierge handoffs, breed restrictions, weight limits, and elevator etiquette all become part of the booking. This is the practical condo playbook Petme sitters use across downtown Toronto.

Building access

How sitters get into your condo

Concierge handoff

The most common Toronto setup. You leave a key (or share a smart-lock code) with the concierge after the meet and greet. The sitter signs in, the concierge hands over the key, the sitter signs out on return.

Visitor pass

For repeat bookings, many buildings issue a visitor pass that covers a specific date range. Easier than re-registering every visit.

Smart lock

Many newer Toronto condos have smart-lock entry to units. A unique time-limited code per sitter eliminates physical key handover entirely.

Building rules

What to confirm before you book

Most Toronto condo buildings have a pet policy, and not all of them welcome professional walkers or sitters. Check your declaration and rules for: maximum number of pets per unit (commonly 1-2), weight limits (commonly 25 or 35 lbs), breed restrictions (less common in Ontario but some buildings have them), and rules around dogs in common areas like the lobby and elevator.

Some buildings require dogs to use a designated pet relief area on the property; others require the dog to be carried in common areas (rare but real). A sitter who has worked in your building before knows the rules cold; one who hasn’t will need a quick brief.

Common Toronto towers

Neighbourhoods where Petme sitters most often work

Liberty Village, CityPlace, Yonge and Eglinton, King West, Yorkville, Distillery District, Fort York, and the waterfront condos all have heavy Petme sitter coverage. Sitters in these areas are familiar with the standard concierge routine and the elevator pet etiquette.

High-rise condos with no pet relief area on site (most of CityPlace and the waterfront) make mid-day drop-in visits more valuable, since dogs can’t be left for a full work day without an outdoor break.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to give my sitter for a condo booking?
Building name and address, unit number, the concierge/security routine for guests, your smart-lock code or key handover plan, and any rules about pets in common areas. Most sitters will ask for this at the meet and greet.
My building doesn’t allow professional walkers in the lobby. What now?
Some Toronto condos restrict commercial activity but allow regular guest visitors. Petme sitters are independent contractors visiting as guests, not a registered commercial service. Check with your building manager.
How does Petme’s 0% owner fee work for condo dwellers?
Petme charges pet owners 0% on every booking, in condos or houses. Cashback is automatic on every completed booking, and CAD 20,000 vet protection is included.
